Within Temptation – (Chapter: 85: 50 years later)
“When was the last time you saw me smile like this?”
Kyla was hesitant to answer, but she told Spencer the truth.
“The last time I saw you with my sister.”
Spencer’s smile didn’t fade as Kyla thought it would have at the mention of Ashley. She was completely confused at how perky the now grey headed old woman seemed. Kyla slowly made her way to the foot of the bed and looked at Spencer.
“Are you sure you are ok?”
“Ok, don’t think I’m crazy when I tell you this.”
“Ok?”
“Ashley is here.”
Kyla looked at Spencer as if she had in fact lost her mind.
“See, I told you no one would believe you.”
Spencer looked into Ashley’s eyes and lightly chuckled.
“I know that smarty pants.”
Kyla watched Spencer interact with nothing but air and it made her feel sorry for Spencer. Her mind must have finally snapped. Spencer looked at Kyla and she could tell Ashley’s sister wasn’t believing any of this. Spencer sighed and covered her head with a pillow.
“Kyla, hold up any number on your fingers and I will tell you what number it is every single time without looking at you.”
“How will you do that?”
“Ashley will tell me. Wont you?”
“I suppose there is no rule against this. There is no personal gain.”
“Good.”
Kyla sat there even more confused as Spencer had a one sided conversation with the air.
“Go on. Hold up your fingers.”
Kyla did as she was told, but didn’t see this ending the way Spencer wanted. Kyla held up six fingers at first.
“Six.” Ashley told Spencer.
Spencer repeated the number to Kyla which caused the brunette to shake her head. It had to be a lucky guess. She tried a different number and Spencer still got it right. They went on and on with this game and Spencer never missed a single number. Kyla was beginning to get very scared. She wasn’t afraid of her sister, but the thought of something like this happening was making her dizzy, but she had no choice but to believe her sister in law. How else was she this good at guessing?
Once Spencer felt she proved her point she sat up and looked at Ashley.
“Why can’t Kyla or the kids see you?”
“None of them were as connected to me as you are. They don’t depend on me like you do. They weren’t my soul mates, though I love them deeply and they love me. They will all eventually find a way to deal with the pain of losing me, but you never would. You couldn‘t go on with your life without me.”
Kyla watched as Spencer continued to speak with the Ashley she couldn’t see. Ashley was Spencer’s guardian angel and she stayed with her on earth until Spencer breathed her very last breath. Once Spencer’s soul was released from her body Ashley happily took her hand, which she could then feel, and lead her to their final home with all the other angels.

the ending was great i cried a little but i liked it
There was a lot left unsaid due to the few large leaps into the future. What wasn’t said in my story is just left to the imagination. That’s how I want it. Sometimes things are better that way :3
I’ll definitely be posting on FF.net. I tried posting stuff there before but I had a hard time with it. It always jumbled my stuff together which is one reason I prefer writing on this site.
this was awesome from beging to end
