“Girlfriend, yeah yeah I know whatever! She’s already lending you clothes. You are SO together.”
“So what does it say?” Ashley asked gritting her teeth together. Sometimes dealing with Kyla was like walking through quicksand, you only sunk deeper the harder you tried to get out.
“Author dies in mysterious stabbing.”
“What?! MOVE!” Ashley said throwing her sister out of the way. She enlarged the holo screen and scowled at the photo. A body was laid out on the ground on the corner where the bookstore met the stoplight. The body had to be Spencer’s.
“OW! The floor is hard ya know?” Kyla complained dusting herself off. Ashley ignored her and continued reading.
“Local Author Spencer Carlin was stabbed in an alleyway by McAllister’s Bookstore late yesterday evening, witnesses say she was on her way to a publishers meeting. She was stabbed nine times,” Ashley couldn’t go on. “This isn’t right. She can’t.”
“I’m sorry Ash,” Kyla said sidling up to her sister and putting a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“For what? I barely even knew her. I’m fine it’s just weird,” Ashley answered.
“Liar.”
“You’re right. But. Hey!” An idea had just dawned on the brunette, hurrying over to the machine she began to calibrate the numbers. “I can fix this. I can stop it!”
“Um what are you doing?”
“You don’t understand. I can go back and save her. She can’t, I just, she can’t die.”
“I told you. LOOOOOOVE!” Kyla sang at her. Ashley busily worked out the calculus equation that was required for her jump and ignored her sister who was busy dancing around singing. “Admit it.”
“Nope. Never gonna happen.”
“Then you’re not going.”

I really liked this chapter. The Ashley and Kyla banter is funny. I really want to figure out why Spencer gets stabbed and how Ashley saves her! PMS!

Umm…kind of a late reply but…I really really love how you write out the interaction between Kyla and Ashley…you are probably the best Kyla writer on this site. I’m all for Ashley and Spencer but I love when people delve out into other characters…you are one of two people who do it really well. Just all around great writing here, i’m a little hooked and i’m kinda glad I don’t have to wait for updates!
