The road stretched before her in a long line of nothing. It was dark out and the only thing cutting through the dark night was the headlights of the bus. Everything had happened so fast. After the proposal, she and Spencer had spent two weeks in California. Ashley had shown her all of the places she’d loved to go as a teenager and the blonde drank in the sunny state. They’d even stopped and had an awkward lunch with her mother. Christine wasn’t happy about the proposal or the impending union but she made no show of hiding it either. It hadn’t bothered Spencer or Ashley, they were in love and they didn’t care. After all, they’d had each other.

After California, the girls returned home to a busy Aiden and Kyla. Wedding plans swirled around their shared household like a hurricane and a week later it was time to return to school. Ashley enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the recording program. She and Spencer had planned their schedules together to maximize the amount of time they could spend together. Spare time was spent in laughter, lovemaking, plans for the future, fights and tears like any other couple. Spencer was close to finishing her degree and Ashley couldn’t have been prouder. Meanwhile, she was busy with her band and they’d even recorded a few demos. Three months slipped away, Sam and Madison had returned from their honeymoon. The newlyweds moved back into the house while they searched for a place of their own. Everything had seemed so simple, so right, and then Ashley’s life had changed forever.

“That was a great set you guys! Awesome, I mean Petey you were so on with the solos tonight and Jay Jay way to keep the beat man! Did you see that? The crowd loved it!!!” Ashley gushed at her band as they made their way off of the stage. She grinned and slapped Petey on the back. All of the sudden she was caught in a whirlwind of blonde hair and kisses.

“Ash, that was so incredible!” Spencer told her in between kisses. Ashley laughed and held her close, breathing in her spicy scent. Everything about her life now was perfect. She had it all. The girl, the house and even a job she loved tutoring struggling musicians on the sound boards. Her band seemed to be taking off too. Spencer’s lips brushed against her neck in light touch of adoration. It was her way of telling Ashley that she loved her without so many words.
