The King High Killer – (Chapter: Chapter 1 The First of Many)

The sound of feet clapping the cement is lost in the howl of the cold night air. Trickles of sweat cry off the boy’s scalp but he doesn’t slow or even chance a look behind him to see his assailant’s progress.

Down one street and cut through another, his sprinting picks up with a perfect pace that only years of experience could afford him.

The four foot fence is feet away and he readies his body to make the jump; his spring is natural and the fence is cleared.

Relief washes over the boy and despite the slow ache in his muscles he knows that there is no other option, he must continue running; he has seen the weapon the hooded figure is carrying.

So he keeps running, not sure if the sound of his sneakers cutting through the night air are his own echoing in panic or his pursuer’s, but it doesn’t matter, he will keep going until he reaches his father’s station; until he knows he’s safe.

More relief, only a hundred yards to go as he sees the old brownstone building up in the clearing over the small grassy knoll he use to sled on as a child. But the hill betrays him and he loses his footing, sliding down the snow covered grass scraping his right leg from thigh to calf.

He forces himself up, slipping slightly, ignoring the burning sensation in his leg, as he crosses the empty street to get to the front doors of the sheriff’s station.

The small jingle of the bell startles the brown haired boy, even though he has walked through the doors countless times. He immediately turns to lock the doors and peers out the glass to check for any sign of the predator.

    There is none.

    Maybe I simply outran him?

Although a smile creeps up on the boys lips he doesn’t let the feeling truly take hold until he is able to see his father, his father is the only one that could comfort him. With the knowledge that the front door is locked and the back door is only assessable with a police swipe card, he still manages to feel safer, however.
Against his better judgment, he turns his back to the doors and takes in the empty front desk and clear hallways. Not so unexpected this time of night in a small town.

    4. Umm Can you be anymore AMAZING? Seriously!! But I finally got around to read this , okie I HAD ONE CRAZY WEEKEND, WHICH WOULD HAVE NOT ALLOWED ME TO COMPREHEND reading this if i did at the time of inebriation(S) lol.. BUT WOW, I REALLY DIDNT WANT IT TO END.. SO THE KILLER HAVE A COPY OF THE LIST THAT SPENCER HAS hmmmm seems like the killer is going with the purchase list !! ITS GLEN ISNT IT ? BUT MORE MORE MORE..

    5. okay so i love this… i love the mystery/romance thing…. it makes for a WONDERFUL story… but i am trying to figure out who the killer is already… even though i doubt i’ll be able to because its so early in the story… but here we go… its someone that has something to do with the dance, someone that everyone knows, someone that knew that Linda’s son is sick again, and that she was home from work cuz of it, its not all about not going to the dance cuz Patrick was going and had already bought his ticket… hmmm, right now i favor madison, but who knows, its too early…. but i liked where smthngIkike2do was going with it… the “christian life” thing, that makes me think Aunt Marie… dunno, but post super soon please!!!

    6. well i just got done reading and commenting mds boarding school for girls and saw this and was like wow lol but i love the long updtes its def different than your other story even the style of writting lol but i liked it :) and omg is he gonna kill ashley? shes not going whats gonna happen gosh im so intrested you need to post like now lol :) pms please great updates :) keep up the great work :)

    8. I was totally engrossed in that. I’m a coward so the scary movie scenes made me nervous but when the other characters were interacting I was so absorbed I forgot the scary stuff….more of an impact when it reappeared, excellent job. I’m liking the characterisation very much. Although if Linda gets it I may have to skip the next chapter….my friends 2 yr old died of cancer this week so the subjects a bit raw…but reading this has taken my mind off things. What else is there to say except ‘looking forward to the next post’ x

    9. Im a big fan of horror movies and books. So I can say i really am intrigue by your story and Im enjoying it as well. But you have to feel sorry for any body who lives in this town who does fit the christian way of life. They seem to be dying off. The Goth chick, The gay young man, and possibly the single mother. The sad part is if she dies what happen’s to her son? Does the killer kill him too? Could the killer be someone the Carlin have come to trust? I cant wait to read the next chapters.pms

    10. *taps fingers together* hmmm… I have to say that I deeply enjoyed this first update and am hoping you post again soon. (I don’t care if I’m cheesy! Cheese is yummy!)

    11. First : Based on this first chapter, there is no need to be nervous. So far i’m digging it. Secondly : I like the slight role reversal. Bitchy Spencer is always interesting. Thirdly : I like how Ashley totally played the cliched diner waitress. Fourthly : I like how the conversation between Spencer and Madison segued from the murders to “You in the mood for a mint mocha frappuccino blend?” hahaha Fifthly : So many funny moments … love “porntastic” and pinky swearing with the cat. And sixly : (yes, i’m going there!) So … the victims know the killer and none of them were planning to go to the dance. Oh no, Ashley needs to get her ticket!!! Once again I am intrigued …

    12. Ok, so I’m liking this so far. At first after the first couple of pages I wouldn’t have minded if the killer killed Spencer, but she might not be that bad. So far I don’t like Madison. I love that spencer is talking to her cat. Spencer and Ash need to make up. Can’t wait to read more. PMS!!!!
