The King High Killer – (Chapter: Chapter 1 The First of Many)

    “Um, you okay?”

    “Yeah, sorry about…crying or whatever.”

“It’s fine, Spence.” Neither girl makes eye contact and after a minute Spencer gets up and walks back to the first booth were her project laid abandoned. “What are you working on?” She asked casually, actually enjoying the blonde’s presence.

“Stuff for the Halloween dance. You going?” Spencer knew the answer but asking gave her a reason to look at the brunette and continue talking to her.

“Um, I’ll think I’ll pass.” Ashley answered sarcastically as she took at seat at the counter.

“Come on! You have to go!”

“I’d rather spend my Friday night and Halloween…well…doing anything else! And besides, the day after is…” Ashley trailed off.

“The anniversary.” Spencer finished for her. It will be four years since the death of Ashley’s father on November first.

“Yeah, so I think I’m just going to stay in and watch scary movies or whatever.” She finished quietly.

“Come on, Ash,” Spencer was actually enjoying using the nickname now, it felt comfortable saying it. “Attendance for the dance is way low and I need people to go or else Principal Young won’t give the squad new uniforms!”

“Hark! We can’t let that happened!” More sarcasm, but right about now Ashley was picturing Spencer in her cute little cheerleading uniform and wishing she could fund the team herself. Seeing the blonde in the outfit was the only reason Ashley went to school on game days and to the pep rallies.

“Oh stop it, you know you love seeing us in the uniforms!” Spencer teased, but froze after the words left her lips. This was the first time she had ever acknowledged the fact that Ashley was gay and she suddenly panicked as blush started covering her face because it just struck her that she actually flirted with the brunette. Ashley, for her part, was just as frozen. Spencer’s joking words swirled themselves around her head as she tried to grasp the intent. “Was she flirting with me?” She asked herself. “Was she just kidding? Why is her face so red?”

    “Um, sorry…”

“No, no, it’s whatever. I have a lot of sidework I need to get done and since we’re closing up early I should really get on that.” Ashley got up from the counter and started busying herself with her nightly cleanup routine. Spencer pulled her gaze from the brunette to stare down at the complete list of King High’s student body. Only one hundred or so names were highlighted, signifying their purchasing a ticket to the upcoming Halloween dance.

Spencer let out a sigh as she crossed off Cassidy Adams and Patrick Anderson’s names at the top of the page. Cassidy hadn’t bought a ticket but there was no reason for the Goth or the athlete’s names to be present any longer.
With one more glance towards the busy brunette and another deep sigh, Spencer flipped the page and again hoped that the killings began and ended with them.

“Oh, hey! What are you doing here?”

“I was just stopping by to see how your son was doing, Linda.”

“Wow, that’s really sweet of you. Yeah, I’m pissed I had to miss work tonight.”

    “Mind if I come in?”

“Sure, I’ll make some tea or something.” The red head stepped aside. “Aren’t you cold only wearing that grey hoodie?” The killer closed the door behind them and locked the door for good measure.

“I just got done an activity that left me thoroughly warm, and I’m sure I’ll find another way to keep from getting cold. Hey Linda, you’re not going to the school dance, right?”

    4. Umm Can you be anymore AMAZING? Seriously!! But I finally got around to read this , okie I HAD ONE CRAZY WEEKEND, WHICH WOULD HAVE NOT ALLOWED ME TO COMPREHEND reading this if i did at the time of inebriation(S) lol.. BUT WOW, I REALLY DIDNT WANT IT TO END.. SO THE KILLER HAVE A COPY OF THE LIST THAT SPENCER HAS hmmmm seems like the killer is going with the purchase list !! ITS GLEN ISNT IT ? BUT MORE MORE MORE..

    5. okay so i love this… i love the mystery/romance thing…. it makes for a WONDERFUL story… but i am trying to figure out who the killer is already… even though i doubt i’ll be able to because its so early in the story… but here we go… its someone that has something to do with the dance, someone that everyone knows, someone that knew that Linda’s son is sick again, and that she was home from work cuz of it, its not all about not going to the dance cuz Patrick was going and had already bought his ticket… hmmm, right now i favor madison, but who knows, its too early…. but i liked where smthngIkike2do was going with it… the “christian life” thing, that makes me think Aunt Marie… dunno, but post super soon please!!!

    6. well i just got done reading and commenting mds boarding school for girls and saw this and was like wow lol but i love the long updtes its def different than your other story even the style of writting lol but i liked it :) and omg is he gonna kill ashley? shes not going whats gonna happen gosh im so intrested you need to post like now lol :) pms please great updates :) keep up the great work :)

    7. oh and i think the killer is spencers cat lol no jking lol i love she talks to her cat lol makes me feel less crazy knowing someone else out there does lol but i think the killer is a cop it has to be i just have a feeling seeing as he got into the police station so easily and the cameras noone would think anything of it if they saw him on there and the girl wow i hope she makes it although im sure she wont :( i just hope someone takes care of her son and he doesnt kill him too cuz that would be a wholenother story line lol :)

    8. I was totally engrossed in that. I’m a coward so the scary movie scenes made me nervous but when the other characters were interacting I was so absorbed I forgot the scary stuff….more of an impact when it reappeared, excellent job. I’m liking the characterisation very much. Although if Linda gets it I may have to skip the next chapter….my friends 2 yr old died of cancer this week so the subjects a bit raw…but reading this has taken my mind off things. What else is there to say except ‘looking forward to the next post’ x

    9. Im a big fan of horror movies and books. So I can say i really am intrigue by your story and Im enjoying it as well. But you have to feel sorry for any body who lives in this town who does fit the christian way of life. They seem to be dying off. The Goth chick, The gay young man, and possibly the single mother. The sad part is if she dies what happen’s to her son? Does the killer kill him too? Could the killer be someone the Carlin have come to trust? I cant wait to read the next chapters.pms

    10. *taps fingers together* hmmm… I have to say that I deeply enjoyed this first update and am hoping you post again soon. (I don’t care if I’m cheesy! Cheese is yummy!)

    11. First : Based on this first chapter, there is no need to be nervous. So far i’m digging it. Secondly : I like the slight role reversal. Bitchy Spencer is always interesting. Thirdly : I like how Ashley totally played the cliched diner waitress. Fourthly : I like how the conversation between Spencer and Madison segued from the murders to “You in the mood for a mint mocha frappuccino blend?” hahaha Fifthly : So many funny moments … love “porntastic” and pinky swearing with the cat. And sixly : (yes, i’m going there!) So … the victims know the killer and none of them were planning to go to the dance. Oh no, Ashley needs to get her ticket!!! Once again I am intrigued …

    12. Ok, so I’m liking this so far. At first after the first couple of pages I wouldn’t have minded if the killer killed Spencer, but she might not be that bad. So far I don’t like Madison. I love that spencer is talking to her cat. Spencer and Ash need to make up. Can’t wait to read more. PMS!!!!
