“did you set that up?” she asked

“no…I told her to say something nice…but…”

“Ashley…how many times do I have to tell you? Brooke and I will never be friends…ex girlfriend and current fiancées just don’t get along…don’t play the peacemaker because it’s not something you can do” she said “maybe come here tonight was a bad idea…” she added starting to walk away

“Spencer wait…at least let me drive you home…” I offered her

“don’t you think you’ve already done enough?” she asked being serious

“do you want me to go away then?” I asked her

“Ashley I want you to do whatever you want…you waited long enough for me”

“you know I didn’t…” I corrected

“Ashley it was two years…” she told me

“but I was in love with you…there’s no timer on love Spencer…you know that and I know that…I should have waited”

“and I shouldn’t have left, but we all make mistakes…” she told me “…look, go be with Brooke, I have to go home…” she added getting into her car and then she drove away

After she left I went inside and found Aiden by the bar hitting on some chick, which wasn’t anything new for him “hey have you seen Brooke?” I asked him

“uh…last time I checked she was by the stage, but I don’t know now…” he told me

“ok…thanks” I told him walking over to the stage then I eventually caught Brooke as she stopped talking to someone “hey…” I said getting her attention “…I’ve been looking for you all night”

“well, if you’re looking for me while you’re around Spencer, then it’s never gonna happen” she snapped “like the other night when you stayed over her house…or earlier when you had dinner over there…” she said

“it’s not a big deal Brooke…ok? I’ve been trying to get my friend to get along with the girl I love…” I told her holding her hand

“yeah? I’m just getting confused as to who plays what role in that…” she told me starting to walk off again

“Brooke stop…please, just talk to me…”

“I’m not doing this now…we’ll figure this out at home” she said “let me go” then I let her go off to the rest of her party
