“You’re on.”
Ashley’s heart dropped, “What do you mean?”
“You’re on. It’s your turn to perform,” the guy said, tapping his clipboard impatiently with his pen.
“But I just got here!” Ashley called after him as he walked quickly away and out of her sight. “Well wait a fucking minute,” she said as she followed the path he had made through the throngs of people, swinging her guitar case as she walked.
This was a bad idea. Ashley nervously walked up the side steps of the stage and stood behind the microphone. She could barely make out the words as the DJ announced her name. What felt like five million spotlights were suddenly on her face and 100 pairs of eyes were staring holes into her skin. But the only ones she could look at were Spencer’s. It was as if Spencer was holding her up with those little worlds of blue. And when she nodded and smiled, Ashley felt safe. She felt ready.
“Hi, everybody,” she said, finally allowing a smile to grace her lips. The audience just cheered, fueling Ashley’s growing confidence.
“Tonight I’m going to play for you a little song I wrote called, ‘What We Could’ve Been.’ I wrote it for someone that really means a lot to me…even if I don’t always let her know it.” Ashley swallowed back tears as she continued, “She…she um, needed space…”
“Space sucks!” someone yelled from the back of the bar.
Ashley laughed, “Yeah, it does. But I’d give her anything she asked me for. So, I guess without further ado…”
She opened her mouth and out came the most beautiful voice Spencer had ever heard. Hearing Ashley sing again took her back to a time where she sat beside Lindsay and subtly chose her over the brunette. This time was different.
Ashley’s voice rang beautiful, rich, and deep as she sang the lyrics Spencer knew she had been the catalyst of, “I took you out. I inhaled you in. And given the chance, I’d have you again…I’m alone today. I wanted you. I wanted you gone. I wanted you to stay. You can always find me…after a goodbye…I tattooed my map on the inside of your thighs…Remember me…when you can finally stand again. Remember me. Remember what we could’ve been…”

Hmmmmmm if i didnt hate Lindsey before i sure do now, that was so harsh and you are like the best writer ever. I stayed up waiting for an update when I should be sleeping cuz i got summer school. Man who thought flirting all through my history class would make me fail but what can i say my class mates are HOTT like this one blonde she has the best ass i have ever seen, sorry I’m rambling. Anywho… update or else I’ll tell my mommy on you.
Okay, I officially hate Lindsay! I KNEW she didn’t have real feelings for Spencer; she just wanted to mess Spencer and Ashley’s relationship up. The worst part is that Spencer keeps falling for it. I’m kind of mad at Spencer because she keeps messing up her relationship with Ashley. Oh how I love Spashley together though. I need them to be together. I hope Spencer finds a way to make Ashley realize that she is absolutely the one for her.
I for one have hated Lindsey from the very first time I heard her name. And if possible I hate her even more. She effing messed with Spencer’s heart causing her to doubt the love she had for Ashley…totally pisses me off. Spencer pursue Ashley with all your heart and don’t stop until she’s yours forever…impressive writing full of intoxicating passion and sadness, bravo!…pms
