Thirty minutes later, Spencer finally emerged from the bathroom like a wounded prisoner of war. Needless to say, her table was empty save for a few half-full glasses of beer and napkins covered in Lindsay’s signature ruby red lipstick. Grabbing her purse, Spencer left the bar. It had started to rain and she quickly slipped into her waiting vehicle, barely able to close the door before the tears started again. They fell identical to the raindrops on her window over a face of fragile glass.
She couldn’t believe her night. It seemed as if she had nothing else to lose. Certainly she hadn’t gained much in the time it took for Lindsay to slowly but expertly ravage her life. Of course, she knew it was her fault as well. She had left Ashley for Lindsay again and again. But now, though that chain had been broken tonight, one question still remained. Would Ashley ever forgive her? Spencer was beyond hoping that they would be reunited, now she could only hope for the privilege of apologizing to Ashley and meaning it. As if on cue, the passenger door swung open and there she was—wet and cold from the relentless rain—but there she was.
“Hey,” she said, looking straight ahead through the windshield, not yet ready for Spencer’s eyes to meet her own. She knew if they did, the fight would be over and nothing would be solved.
“Hi,” Spencer replied, studying Ashley’s features carefully. She was thinner, older, but her features were timeless. They were the same ones Spencer’s hands had touched and lips had kissed a thousand times.
“It’s raining,” Ashley said, her eyes still not ready to venture over to her left.
“Yeah, it is.”
“Do you think it’ll stop anytime soon?”
“I don’t know. You can never tell in southern California. Sometimes it doesn’t rain for awhile but when it comes back it’s stronger and heavier than ever.”
“Hmm…I guess you’re right. But what about tonight?”
“From the looks of it, it’s not ready to stop anytime soon.”
Ashley reached behind her and grabbed her seatbelt, finally looking at Spencer as the metal clicked into place, “Let’s go.”
Spencer didn’t dare ask where. Instead she started the engine and pulled out of the parking lot, excited and nervous and a little relieved. As she and Ashley drove down the streets leading to her apartment, she took advantage of every opportunity to glance at the silent brunette beside her. She felt as though it was possible she was imagining her presence, but then she would stare at her as the red of a traffic light shone in on her unmoving face and know for sure that she was there.

geez way to go goaskalice you made me cry which i have to say is hard to do. man i had to graba box of tissue my mom walked by and she thinks i had a fight with my gf. you… you are a (sniff) great writer plz (wipes away tears) update soon. oh man where did the tissue go?
That was so sad! I loved Spencer’s speech to Ashley. It’s time she finally realized how stupid she was being. Isn’t that what true love is though? Loving someone so much that you’re willing to let them go so they can be happy. That would be the ultimate selfless act for Spencer. But I don’t want it to be over for them. I don’t want Ashley to move on with someone else. Spencer should have to work hard to get Ashley back but they do have to get back together. I really, really loved this update.

Thanks for the second post tonight. Intensity level pretty high in this post! Spencer & Ashley are meant to be, no matter what they go through they always end back in each others arms…now that’s true love pure and simple. Extraordinary writing…heartfelt and appreciated. PMS

Nothing but love. They truly love each other. To be willing to give each other up for the other’s happiness…now that’s love… but please put them back together…they’ve been through so much… I can deal with several fluff chapters…*smile*
