No Longer Roommates, But Mates. – (Chapter: “Don’t You Trust Me?”)

I drove home like a maniac, going almost twice the speed limit. “Ash, slow down.” Spencer pleaded softly. I ignored her. There was no way I was going to slow down or calm down after having witnessed Aiden kissing her. I burst into the condo, almost knocking the door down. I threw my keys violently on the counter and pulled out a bottle of scotch, poured myself some and downed all of it. Not enough. I needed more. I needed enough to numb me completely. I didn’t want to deal with this right now. Maybe I could blame Spencer, maybe I could yell at her, even though I knew it wasn’t her fault. I just couldn’t bear with how jealous I felt when I saw them.  I downed the second glass, and was on my way to pouring myself a third when Spencer grabbed my wrist. “Ashley, please…” she begged, cupping my cheek. I turned away, and drank down the third glass as well. “Ash, talk to me.” She said in a broken voice. I let out a deep sigh in the darkness of the kitchen.

“Don’t do this, Ash. Don’t shut me out.” She whispered, clinging onto me. “Spencer, how do you expect me to deal with this right now? I just saw- my fiancé and her ex boyfriend- kissing.” I said bitterly. “Ash, don’t mix it up. Aiden kissed me. You saw it.” “I don’t know anymore, Spencer. Just-seeing you and him like that-kills me.” “Ash, he just grabbed me and kissed me. I didn’t kiss him back. Relax, babe.” I pulled away from her. “Don’t. Don’t tell me to relax, Spencer.” “Ash, I’m sorry, okay? I’m so sorry-I didn’t know my mom was going to bring him. I wouldn’t have come if I knew.” I felt warm tears starting to come out of my eyes. “Spence, I know it’s been 7 years, but I still felt that fear when I saw you with him again. That fear that you’d…leave me again.” “Ashley, I’d never leave you. I know what I did to you back then was wrong, but you need to trust me again. Don’t you trust me, Ash? I thought after all these years I had regained your trust in me.” I looked at her with sad eyes. Spencer hadn’t given me even half a reason these years to doubt her faithfulness towards me. And yet I was suspicious once I saw her and Aiden talking today. “Ash, you need to trust me. How can we be together and get married if you don’t believe that I’ll stay faithful to you?” “Spencer, I do trust you, it’s just…” I stopped in mid-sentence, not knowing what to say. “I don’t know.” I said quietly, looking down at my feet.  “I think- it’s just, I’m scared, Spencer. I’m scared that sooner or later, I’m going to lose you somehow. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” I admitted, pulling her close to me. I rested my chin on her head, relieved to have her in my arms. “I don’t know what I’d do if I ever lost you.” Spencer clutched my shirt. “Ash, don’t worry so much. I’m here. I’m not going anywhere, just trust me. I wouldn’t be here if I still loved Aiden. I’m here because I love you.”

    1. OMG! I was so mad when I read that Paula invited Aiden. She is so evil. It just made me want to scream. I was also mad at Spencer for agreeing to talk to him privately. I thought that it wasn’t right, especially without talk to Ashley first knowing that it would make her uncomfortable. She just didn’t say enough to her to reassure her before she went to talk to him. I would have felt like Ashley did too. Great stories…. Love them both, this and Roommates.

    2. paula never gives up does she, and to bring aiden to spence’s party after seven years of no contact with out asking first was so mean…ashley reaction was so off, being that mad, sure i agree she should have kicked the guys ass for kissing her fiancee but to drive fast, drink and get mad a spence is not right…pms

    3. yeah, cardinal sin here.. commenting oneself, but should i go off on a tangent and do a fanfic where Ashley’s some kind of superhero ?! or maybe it’s because i happen to have a fondness for smallville too ^^’

    4. Paula is a sorry excuse for a human being if I’ve ever seen one. Aiden runs a close second in line for that title. I certainly hope Ashley can wholeheartedly trust Spencer, because a relationship based on fear will automatically fail. I agree with AugustLove, Spencer really shouldn’t have given Aiden the time of day, especially by speaking to him privately. Excellent update! Please post again soon…plus an update for Roommates would be greatly appreciated, as well! :)

    5. That fag…ok…lol it was awsome that ash popped his ass like that cuz I’d so have done the same thing LOL of course spence’s mom is a bitch for pulling that shit, but this is definitely going places…PMS!!!!!!
