It Was Suppose to be Special – (Chapter: Chapter 1)
I make my way back to the front door and turn back around to see her lying back slowly.
“Kyla…do you want to come?”
“No, Ash…I’m fine…you go” she waves to me weakly.
“You call me okay?”
“I will” she nodded.
I grab the handle and open, wincing at the sun yet again, as I hurry to my car.
**
‘I decide who I love!’ Ashley screamed.
‘Then just decide!’ I begged.
As I impatiently waited for my response I heard someone scream ‘GUN!’ reactively I turn my attention to the yell, seeing a car creeping up. Seconds later shots are fired and I crouch down looking for Ashley in the sudden crowd.
‘Boz get down!’
‘Aiden!’
I’m pulled into a tight hold by whom I can tell is Aiden and as much as I want to I don’t fight it as we fall to the ground.
I draw back to my reality as I hear someone calling my name and shaking me gently.
“Spence…Spencer…sweetie?” I open my eyes slowly, adjusting them to the fluorescent lights.
“Dad?” I sit up quickly, rubbing my eye, trying to hide the pain in my muscles from the uncomfortable position I was resting in. “Is he okay? Is he going to be okay?”
I felt my eyes swell as he stares at the floor.
“Dad” I want answers. I want to know that my brother is all right. That he is going to live and everything is going to be okay.
He shakes his head gently as he leisurely lifts his eyes and answers as they lock on mines.
“It doesn’t look good Spence.”
I shake my head from side to side, “No! No!” I cry into my hands as I feel a strong embrace on my shoulders. I release my face and place my head into his chest, as I cry into him, feeling a warm pressure on my hand.
I look at the hand on mine and stare into Glen’s pleading eyes as he too wanted answers, without asking. I can’t tell him. I lower my head and shake it. I hear a small sob escape from his mouth as I feel him sit next to me, keeping a firm grip on my hand, leaning his forehead on it.
