I Know What You Are
"We're throwing a surprise party for David."Alyssa said quietly. David sat at the otherside of the table, his shaggy blond hair was spraxled across his forehead. I couldn't quite see why Alyssa had taken a particular interest in him, he wasn't that good looking.
"Okay, I'll go."I said, popping a grape into my mouth. I looked around the cafeteria, avoiding the glare Brooke Saunders was giving me. I had no idea why she didn't like me, whatever I did must have set her off. She walked passed me, her two robots flanking her sides. Brooke muttered something under her breath, but I didn't catch it. That annoyed her. Just because it did, I would give her the cold shoulder, not react. Just to make her mad.
The door to the cafeteria swung open and a girl no older than me walked threw it.
"Sydney!"Jaden called.
"Huh?"I turned back, taking my eyes off of the bronze haired girl who had just came in.
"Aren't you supposed to be in a grade below us?"
"Nope that's what you get for being one of the youngest."I told him. I ignored the rest of it, not even caring to wonder why he asked me in the first place. "Hey, who's that?"I asked, glancing at the bronze haired girl sitting alone at a table, a dark bottle in her hand.
"Nessie Cullen."Alyssa said, making a face. "She's kind of snotty."The girl's head snapped up and we all looked quickly away.
"Alyssa."Jenna said. tossing her a look.
"What? She is."Alyssa declared.
"She kind of sticks to herself."Jenna told me.
"She's kind of creepy too."Alyssa said, suddenly getting all dramatic. "Like I'm-going-to-eat-you creepy." I couldn't help smiling.
"Alyssa!"Jenna said again, she tried to force out the laughter in her tone. My smile widened, this turned out better than I thought it would. My sides hurt by the time we left the lunch room. Everything was going to be okay. I believed that much.
I had Biology with Jenna at the end of the day. I was so happy about that. We sat, together, Mr. Cox put us together because Jenna had asked him too. She was on all the teacher's good sides, if she asked for something, I guessed she'd get it. We talked, and I caught sight of the same bronze-haired girl walk in. She reminded me to much about the blood-craving monsters called vampires.
