I Could Never Forget About You – (Chapter: A date night?)

“Spence, I don’t want to know details…all I want to know is, why is it and ‘almost kiss’?” Who is he now, my therapist? I sigh, then decide to just give him what he wants.

“It’s an almost kiss because…Shelly kind of popped up out of nowhere.”

“Shelly?” He asks surprised. Trust me buddy, I was too.

                    “Yeah, Shelly…and Kyla.” I reply.

“Oh.” He returns back to his natural position, sinking back in his chair.

                    “Yeah…”

“Sorry, that kind of sucks.” He really doesn’t know the half of it.

“Tell me about it.” I reply.

“So, what do you think this means?” He asks carefully, taking a sip of his coffee.

                    “I don’t know.” I reply honestly.

I won’t lie and tell you I haven’t thought about it. No that would be the worst lie, because honestly…it’s pretty much the only thing I’ve thought about. I just hope Ashley has too.

“Yeah…what is it with you guys?” He lets out a chuckle.

“What?” I ask, somewhat off guard.

“No, no…it’s just… I mean why won’t you guys just take that leap?” He asks.

I wish I knew the answer to that question, but I don’t. So I give him the answer I’ve been trying to convince myself with.

                    “It’s not that easy Aiden.”

                    “Right…of course not…I mean you’ve known each other forever…why can’t it just—“

“Because I left Aiden…I left…and I was stupid…that changed everything.” I cut him off. Suddenly I don’t want to talk about Ashley anymore.

“It changed nothing, except you missed out on a few years.” He replies quietly.

“Years that we still could’ve been together Aiden.” I sigh.

“But it’s not your fault Spencer.” He places his hand on my shoulder, rubbing it lightly.

“I know, but it could’ve made it easier.” I reply, a tear already forcing its way out.

“Yeah, yeah okay…this is too…emotional. Let’s talk about something else.” Leave it to Aiden to change the subject when I need it the most. I laugh, silently thanking him.
