Heavily Broken – (Chapter: Memories and Conditions)

“Ok well the will specifically states that the house and 5 million dollars be left for you Mrs. Davies, and the rest of his assets, which add up to 15 million dollars, are to be handed over to Ashley when she turns 18.”

The look on my mother’s face was priceless, she looked as if she was going to throw up and I could swear that her head was about to explode.  I couldn’t stop smiling to myself because my mother was extremely pissed that all she got was the house and 5 million dollars.  To her it was like a slap in the face.  I can’t believe she didn’t see this coming, I mean did she really think that my dad would leave me without making sure that I would be set for life.  If it was up to me I wouldn’t have given her anything, but my dad had a heart of gold and he could never do that to a person that he had once love.  I was pulled out of my thoughts when one of the men sitting across from me said my name.

“Ashley as I was just telling your mother, there are certain conditions to your fathers will that both you and your mother must fallow in order to inherit the assets.” I motioned for the man to continue.”The first condition is that Mrs. Davies must allow Ashley to live in the house until she graduates from high school.”

I heard my mother grunt in protest, but I couldn’t help but agree with her.  I didn’t want to liver her as much as she didn’t want me live here.

“The second condition is that Ashley must attend college, she will receive half of her money when she turns 18, but will not receive the other half until she has completed college.”  I sat there with my jaw open.

Not only was I going to have to put up with my mother for another year, but I then had to attend college for 4 years.  I was never planning on going to college, it just wasn’t something that I ever wanted to do and my father knew this.  Why is he making me go to college, he knew that I wanted to pursue my music career after high school.  One of my father’s lawyers was talking to my mother again, maybe I should listen.

“The will states Mrs. Davies that if you kick Ashley out of the house before she graduates from high school then you are to receive nothing.”  Her face was filled with horror and shock.  “As for you Ashley you will receive half of your money when you turn 18 only if you complete high school, but you will not receive the other half until you graduate from college.”

I sighed and asked “Well is that everything then?”  They both nodded and I got up completely ignoring my mother and walked up to my room.

Christine was completely speechless the entire time the will was being read, but she had no choice to follow the conditions.  She needed the money to survive until she could find another man to take care of her.
