    Wordless conversations.

                “Spencer?”  I gasp.

     

                “Spencer!”  Clay shouts as he jumps from the table to greet his sister.  Now leaning even further back in my chair, I watch as Spencer wraps her father in a powerfully emotional hug, which lasts, very easily, for two minutes.  Neither Spencer nor Mr. C can control the tears as they flow freely down their cheeks.

     

                I stand slowly, still in awe of the scene unfolding in front of me.  Spencer releases her father, who disappears out the front door, and she grabs Clay around the neck for an equally warm embrace.  Mr. C quickly returns with a small suitcase in hand and closes the front door behind him, before walking to the stairs with it.  Even Glen is choked up by his sister’s unexpected arrival and playfully tears Clay away so that he can greet Spencer properly. 

     

                Frozen in the spot a foot away from the table, I have been awarded the position where I can see what is happening without being easily seen.  Spencer removes her coat, which Clay eagerly takes from her to hang up, and the entire Carlin family begins walking towards me in the dining room.

     

                “You’re just in time, Spencer. We just sat down to dinner.”  Her dad says as they begin closing in on me.

     

                “Oh good, I’m famished.”  I hear her respond and I know she is merely five steps away from finding that I will be joining her for dinner.  I play nervously with my hands and shuffle my feet in an attempt to appear as if I am standing casually.  Mr. C emerges from the foyer first and expresses a look that I easily interpret as him having forgotten I am here.  He turns quickly back to Spencer, as if there is any way to stop her from entering, but I watch as her attention shifts suddenly from the riotous conversation she is having with Glen, to her father’s look of panic, to the dining room table and then finally  to me.

     

                My heart stops the moment I lay my eyes on her.  It has been seven months since I have seen her and although it seems impossible, she is even more beautiful than I remember.  Her face is like that of an angel, accented perfectly by her deep blue eyes.  She is dressed in business-like attire, wearing a form fitting button down black shirt, opened far enough to reveal a low cut red silk shirt underneath, and black dress pants.  Her hair is pulled into a tight bun in the back except for one section in the front that hangs right behind her eye.  She looks beautiful, she looks professional, she looks…..grown up.

    71. alright, I think I owe you an explanation. I know I haven’t been leaving any comment since you started this new story, but the only reason was because I didn’t have internet at home anymore. So I could not leave any comments!!! But I still red all of your stories on my phone everynight. But this last chapter… I mean… I red it in my bed yesterday, it was just AWESOME !!! It was everything we had been waiting for!!! So I decided specialy for you and in order to leave a comment, to go to a friend’s house and use her computer. SO here is my comment : great work since the beginning, awesome last chapter and please please leave us a happy chapter before you go.
