    Without hesitation.

                “I hope it was worth it.”  I whisper to the silent room.

     

                Never in a million years would I have thought Danielle would do something that would warrant moving out.  Did she though?  Although I had told her to ‘get out’, I am not sure I had meant ‘move out’.  What she had done was only to help me and that is what I need to focus on.  In fact, helping me is all she has ever tried to do since the moment we met. 

     

                It doesn’t surprise me that Danielle has gone to Michelle’s. We’ve all been friends for the last two semesters, but she and Dani have become closer, basically because I have been so involved with Sara.  It doesn’t take me more than twenty minutes to realize that it is I who owes Danielle an apology, not the other way around. 

     

                Standing in front of Michelle’s door, I realize that this is actually one of the easier decisions I have ever had to make.  Knocking loudly, I wait patiently for an answer, while in the back of my mind wishing that things could be this easy with Spencer.  I wish chasing after Spencer was something I could do without hesitation and without fear.  The lock clicks open on the other side of the door and moments later I am face to face with Michelle, who is wearing a mixed look of surprise and concern.

     

                “Hi Ashley.”  She greets me warmly, standing in the doorway which she opens only wide enough to accommodate her body, not allowing for a view farther into the room.  Her long, red, curls are pulled up into a messy ponytail, with stray hairs falling carelessly out the sides.  She is wearing plaid pajama bottoms with an inside out t-shirt and her present appearance is a sharp contrast to her normal look.  As a good friend of Dani’s, this probably has been pretty hard on her too.

     

                “Hey Michelle, is Dani here?”  She hesitantly backs up, opening the door wider to reveal Danielle sound asleep on her bed.

     

                “She didn’t really sleep much last night.  She was so upset.  She spent most of the time packing.”  A look of sorrow crosses her face and she closes the door behind her to join me in the hallway.  “I tried to tell her to talk to you before she packed everything up, but she said she broke your trust and she wanted to respect your request to move out.”

    23. Ahh, Spencer! Grrr, what a cliffhanger! I’m really glad Ashley talked things out with Danielle. The mood of this story has gotten brighter with this one update; I hope it continues to do so. Of course, I love drama and angst, but it seems we’ve been getting a heavy dose of that lately. Writing a little bit of happy isn’t so hard, is it Caseygurl? =P Despite all of that though, I am enjoying the pace. It doesn’t feel slow or dragged out to me. I like how you’re taking your time and building it up. Thanks for the update! I’m eager to read what you have in store for us — whatever it is I know I’ll enjoy it. =)
