“Hi,” she croaked, her voice raspy.
“How are you feeling?”
“Like I have meningitis,” she joked. I was glad to see her smile. I brushed some of her hair behind her ear.
“You really gave us a scare.” I thought back to this morning, and how terrified I was when I realized she didn’t know what was going on. My hand started shaking a little but this time, she squeezed it.
“I’m okay, Spence. Really.”
“I know,” I said, my voice quivering as the tears in my eyes began to slowly spill over.
“I’m gonna be fine, baby.” I nodded as she planted a kiss on my cheek.
“You should probably get some rest,” I told her, considering the fact that she looked like she was slowly losing steam.
“Mmm. Love you.”
“I love you too.” I kissed her forehead as she drifted off to sleep. After spending a minute or two watching her, Ben appeared in the doorway.
“Hey, Spencer. So, uh, we’re going to need to go ahead and put you on some medication as well.”
“Why?”
“Well, meningitis can be transferred through a variety of ways, like sharing drinks or kissing. We usually recommend that anyone living in close quarters with someone who’s diagnosed take antibiotics for it. I’ve already prescribed some for your father and for Karen,” he explained.
“Oh, okay.”
“I’ll leave your prescription with your family,” he said. “My shift is ending in about 15 minutes, so I think I’m gonna head home to catch some shut-eye. Anything else you need?”
“No, but thank you so much, Ben,” I told him sincerely. “For everything you’ve done.”
“Not a problem. Oh, by the way- I think Ashley is going to be moved to a private area of the hospital shortly. Word got out to the press somehow and they’re expecting an influx of reporters and fans.”
“Thanks for the heads up.”
“I’ll see you soon. Give Ashley my best regards.”
“I will. Bye Ben.”

The next time I woke up, I discovered regrettably that I was still in plenty of pain, especially in my neck/back area. I felt a bandage on my back, as well, and I briefly remembered feeling intense pain before I passed out. But at least I knew where I was and who I was, and far as I was concerned, that was an improvement. The first thing I noticed was Spencer, sleeping in an awkward and uncomfortable-looking position on an adjacent chair. Another glance around the room led me to my nightstand, which was filled with vases of flowers, a stuffed Pooh bear, and a bunch of cards. “Get Well Soon!” balloons filled the room and I couldn’t help but smile. I debated over whether I should wake Spencer, and decided to do it because I wasn’t sure how long I’d be able to stay up this time. I gently shook her leg and she stirred a bit before opening up her eyes.

I AM SOOO GLAD That you posted a chapter. I LOVE YOUR STORY!!!! It is sad that Ashley has to be like that to her dad, but he deserves it. I just hope that Ashley and SPencer will be okay and that Spencer will not start failing her classes at school when she moves in with Ashley. TTYL and I can’t wait to see what other ideas that you have for this story. Buh-bye!!!!!!!
Wow that was a great chapter. I`m shocked ashley dad came to see her. I`m glad ashley is doing alot better. And spencer dad is the best letting her move in with ashley. Cant wait for the next chapter. PMS.
Hey seeing how it says that u own Spencer and Ashley, would u pretty please mind sharring? I promise I will be a good gurl!!=), okay well anyways im glad that ashley was A OKAY!! gah u freakin scarred me!! SO happy ashley and spencer our moving in!!! yah!! Oh and Ashleys dad can step the flipper off!! so yeah good post!!! AWESOME!!

So, I definitely missed this story while I was away. I got back from my trip last night and was happy to see a new chapter. You know, I believe I saw this in the classified section of the newspaper the other day: Wanted – Father for young female. Must enjoy actually talking to and being engaged in said female’s life on a daily basis. Also, must not be jaded by fame. Raifes need not apply. I also recall reading in a medical journal that a speedy recovery from meningitis is possible via table clearing sex. On that note, you know I love this story and your writing Kozmic. Hook a sista’ up with another chapter when you can.
