Going Horizontal – (Chapter: Broken Hearted)

"Oh, hot am I? I’m not sure about that, but I can assure you I wouldn’t be labeled as your girlfriend, kinda seems degrading don’t you think?" She asks, watching me laugh out loud as I walk over to her to shake her hand.

Glen pouted but smiled afterwards as soon as she shook her hand with mine. "It’s a pleasure to meet you. What art class will you be teaching?" I ask when I took a seat across from Glen but next to her and my mother. She was totally beautiful, honestly, and I don’t think my mind could focus on anything else but her.

    I was already smitten.

"Well, I’ll be assisting Ms. Clover’s Advance Studio Art Classes until 2nd semester, in which I’ll be recognized as a permanent replacement for her. They’re trying to test me for the first half of the school year and if I meet their requirements, I’ll get the job." She said, now turning her attention back to my dad who was serving us our cranberry, orange, and grape juices to go along with our meals.

I loved my dad, he was such an amazing cook and it’s him that I respect and idolize more than Paula.

"Well, Glen, aren’t you going to let us in on your big secret? I bet you Spencer will learn a thing or two from you with your positive news." Paula exclaimed, watching my brother’s face turn red. Carmen reached out for his hand and nodded towards him. I could’ve sworn her foot rubbed up against my leg, or is it my imagination?

My older brother stood up from the dining table and raised his arms as though he were victorious.

"I decided to quit school because I was given the opportunity in becoming Los Angeles’ hot new nightclub owner for Zombie Theater!"

The look on my mother’s facial expression expressed over dramatic rage, which meant that she was about to react far worse than she did when I came out to her as a lesbian. Funny, eh?

I was so glad that Carmen could give me a ride to King High earlier than I intended to arrive because if I stuck around the house any longer, World War 3 would have broke out in our dining room.
