    “Nope.  Not gonna happen, only I will know until it’s born.  No begging or pleading or bribing…”  she looked pointedly over at Glen who just shrugged his shoulders.  “will get me to give it up.  Spencer wants to be surprised and she will be.”  Spencer shot her head up to look at Ashley.  Was that a clue?  Is she trying to say that it’s not what I’m hoping for, or is she trying to throw me off by saying that and it is in fact what I’m hoping it is?  Damn it Ashley!!!  

     

    “Ashley!!!! What did I tell you?!!  No hints!!”

     

    “It wasn’t a hint.  I was simply making sure everyone understood that its only gonna be me that knows.”  But the smirk on her face told Spencer that it was a hint, just not a good enough one to give it away.  They looked back at everyone who seemed a little disappointed but extremely excited… that is,  except for Arthur who stood up and kissed them both o the head again, before going into the kitchen to talk to his wife.  Spencer went to follow but Ashley gently held her to the seat.  “Let me?”  Spencer nodded and then started eating.  The others followed suit by eating for the first time without saying grace.  At least when they were all together. 

     

    Ashley made her way into the kitchen knocking lightly at the door.  The two adults stopped the quiet conversation they’d been having and looked at the shy brunette who was standing awkwardly in the room.

     

    “Can I talk to you guys for a minute?  Please?”  Ashley’s quiet voice pleaded to them, and after a small nod from Arthur Paula swiftly headed out to the backyard.  They both shrugged as they followed behind her.  Once they made it out into the chilled air, Ashley took it upon herself to start the inevitable argument.  “Paula… Spencer’s pregnant.  We’re starting a family.”

     

    “What were you thinking?  How can the two of you even think of starting a family?  You cant even have a family together, it’s never going to be your family, Ashley.”  Paula spat out as she glared at the small girl.

     

    “Yes it is.  It may not be blood but you of all people should know that there’s more to a family than that.  Blood doesn’t make it real.”  Ashley wanted the woman to understand, and she was going to try her hardest to get her to.

    1. Spencer broke Ashley’s heart for her parents! When you’re married you are for that person not your parents. She put Ash through the pain of watching Spencer have sex and then of figuring out she lied to her. Who does that! And now Ash is feeling wrong about the baby which is completely understandable! Ashley has been there for Spencer 100% and Spencer needs to recognize that and be there for Ashely. PMS!

    3. OMG! Spencer. Just think of how much better things would be if you had just told her the real reason. If I was Ashley, I would be having a hard time with this too. I don’t know if I could have done it the “natural” way with my girlfriend in the first place. That took a lot of love on Ashley’s part for Spencer. And then to find this out! Ugh! Through her parents! Ugh! Spencer you’ve got to fix this somehow… Great update..
