Ever the Same – (Chapter: Chapter 19: Time to Dish)

    “Wow, sounds intense.”

“Oh, you don’t even know the half of it. I asked her to repeat herself, and she went into this whole, like, speech. She bared her soul to me. Which is a lot for her. I could just see how vulnerable she felt. Like she was afraid that I would say that I didn’t love her back.” Spencer smirked, “Well I definitely vanquished those fears when I just walked right up to her and kissed her hard, then said that I loved her, too.”

Kyla shook her head with an open mouth, “God, I so hate you. That’s like so totally romantic movie. I’m jealous. You suck!”

The taller girl laughed, “Hey, I can’t control how cliché my life is. Anyway, we get back to her house, and she starts looking through her drawers for dry clothes, and then the lights come back on…and then went right back off again.”

The brunette’s brows furrowed, “The lights came on and then went out again?”

The blonde smiled impishly, “Yeah, my hand kinda slipped and hit the light switch.”

    “Oh, you little devil, you!”

“Yep, that’s me,” Spencer smiled innocently. “After that one thing led to another annnnd…yeah.”

    “Yeah??”

“Ohhhhh, yeah.” The blonde let out a content sigh, “It was, like, the best night of my life. Then the next day wasn’t half bad either.”

“You did it again, didn’t you!”

Spencer laughed, “Uh, yeah, kinda. Y’know, I always thought sex during the day was weird…but you don’t really think about it during.”

“Two days in a row!!!” Kyla looked astonished, “Talk about staying power. I so want your life.”

“Yeah, well it just got a lot more complicated. I still have to tell me parents sooner or later,” Spencer sighed. “Anyway, how was your weekend?”

“Well certainly not as life changing as yours!” the brunette scoffed. “It wasn’t bad, though. Aiden’s quite an interesting person.”

Spencer whipped her head to stare at the other girl, “You and Aiden?”

“Yeah, hung out over the weekend. Not a bad kisser, either,” Kyla smirked.

“Kyla! Man, Aiden is certainly the welcome wagon for girls here. You just need to watch him closely.”

“No big. I can do that.”

Ashley shoved passed the jock and started to walk away, “Must you put it in those terms?” she asked over her shoulder.

“Well…uh…yes,” he answered as he ran next to the brunette.

“We didn’t fuck, Aiden,” Ashley scolded. “We had sex, yes, but we didn’t fuck.”

“Alright, alright.” He smirked, “Sooooo how’s the sex?”

She rolled her eyes and looked at the jock with an annoyed face, “You are so predictable.”

He shrugged, “I really can’t help it. So tell, tell, tell. Good? Bad?”

Ashley let out an exasperated sigh, “Great, okay? The whole thing leading up to it was intense and, the sex itself was pretty intense. I’ve never really experienced anything like it.”

“Whoa, it’s sex, and it was new for you?”

The brunette narrowed her eyes at Aiden, “Yeah. Shut up. I just felt a real connection. It’s almost scary.”

“It’s called love,” the jock said in a matter-of-fact tone.

“It sure is,” Ashley agreed dreamily.

    “Oh, no denying?”

“No. I’m in love, Aiden, and I’m not denying it.”

Aiden patted her on the shoulder, “I’m happy for you.”

She smiled up at him, “Thanks.”

The continued walking until they spotted Spencer and Kyla sitting at a table in the quad. Ashley smiled ear to ear and her pace quickened as she jogged over to them.

    “Hey.”

Spencer looked up and smiled, “Hey.”

Of course it was kind of rude for Ashley not to greet Kyle or Spencer not to greet Aiden, but can you seriously blame them? It’s like tunnel vision whenever they’re together. No one else is there, to them.

“C’mon, we still have time to waste before first hour,” Ashley said as she motioned for them to go elsewhere with her head.

The blonde stood up and linked arms with her girlfriend. They started to walk away while Spencer looked over her shoulder and waved a goodbye to Aiden and Kyla.

“That seems nice,” Aiden said as he sat down next to Kyla and put his arm around her shoulders. He was referring to Spencer and Ashley; how they acted together.

The brunette watched them as they walked away. She got a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. All good things must come to an end, she thought. “I sense a calm before the storm,” was all she said.
