Ever the Same – (Chapter: Chapter 19: Time to Dish)
“What are you so happy about?” Glen asked as he scowled at his little sister through the rear view mirror of his car.
Geez, what bit off his leg? Oh, wait…Oops.
Spencer’s head was rested on her bent wrist as she stared out the backseat window, smiled plastered to her face. She rolled her head to the side after hearing her brother mumble something. “Huh?” she asked only half there.
“I asked why you’re so happy,” he grunted.
“Oh, uh…” she hadn’t even realized she was smiling. Three guesses to what or whom she was thinking about.
“Ashley finally get thrown in jail?” Glen sneered. “Hell, that would make my life.”
Spencer scowled and her nose flared out of anger slightly, “Fuck off, Glen.”
“Guys, don’t start,” Clay sighed from his place in the front passenger seat, receiving glares from both his siblings.
Ooh, family togetherness, isn’t it lovely?
Good thing they pulled into the King High parking lot right at that moment, or Spencer was near ready to take the head rest off Glen’s chair and beat him over the head with it. They parked, and the blonde fled the scene before she could hear anymore crap from her brother.
Only reason she rode with him to school that day is because Ashley had text her saying that she had to run Rob Thomas to the vet, early, because the cat had been sneezing.
What? Cats get colds, now? Apparently it’s true…
Nonetheless, the cat was the brunette’s pride and joy, so needless to say it beat out Spencer for a ride that morning. Let’s see: Hot girlfriend…Cat…Hot girlfriend…Cat…So on…Hmm, maybe Ashley just likes it when something licks her nose? Guess Spencer wasn’t up for that.
No big, really, anyway. The blonde was walking on air, or at least it felt as much. She’d just had the most amazing weekend of her life, and nothing was about to bring her down. Fuck minor annoyances. The girl was in love for Christ’s sakes!
She walked across the quad and spotted Kyla sitting at one of the tables reading one of their books from Honors English II. Hmm, to tell or not to tell…that is the question. Well, if Kyla was so good at calling things, Spencer decided she’d test it.
