Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 4: Tough it Up)
The blonde snorted, receiving a backhand on the shoulder from Ashley.
"Not funny! It hurt!"
"I’m sorry," Spencer said as her laughter died down, "I just got a really funny picture in my head." the brunette rolled her eyes and sneered, "So, what did you do it after it attacked you?" she said with a mocking tone.
"I trapped it under the laundry basket and sprayed with a squirt bottle." Ashley said as she smirked.
Spencer’s mouth dropped, "You did what?!" she exclaimed. "What’s wrong with you?!"
"Hey! Hey, now, the cat started it!"
Spencer sighed, "Where is it, now?"
"Who knows? Probably off plotting more evil!"
"You’re insufferable!"
"Well, you’re the one who wanted the damn cat! If I die, it’s your fault!"
Spencer brought her hand up to her forehead and sighed. “Just give it time, Ash. It’s not like it used to being around people. It’s sorta like a horse: they’re a flight animal and when a person they’re not used to is around them, they go all crazy defense mode.”
Ashley stared at the blonde with her mouth slightly ajar, “Okay, new rule: no going all Ohio-farm-girl on me.”
Spencer, in reply, narrowed her eyes at the brunette. “Sorry, for trying to help.”
“Help? You’re giving me a bunch of bull! That cat already loves you!”
Spencer rolled her eyes, “Maybe that’s because I don’t trap it under laundry baskets and spray it with squirt bottles.”
Ashley grimaced, “It started it?”
The blonde chuckled, “Just drive.”

“So, was the scratch really so deep that you need to bandage it?” Spencer questioned as she took a sip of her cappuccino.
“Well, it bled. Isn’t that a sign that you would have to bandage it?” Ashley stated with her mouth full as she licked her fingers of some cream cheese that had come off her bagel.
“Don’t talk with your mouth full,” the blonde scolded, receiving an eye roll from the brunette. “It makes you look kinda cute, though. I mean the band-aid thing. Seeing your food is just gross.”
Ashley rolled her eyes, once again, and ignored the last sentence. “Aww, damn, I was going for badass.” she said with a pout.
Spencer chuckled, “I don’t think you need any help with that.”
