Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 4: Tough it Up)

Ashley tried to struggle from Spencer’s grasp, but she held onto her tight, refusing her to advance on Madison. Sherry had a hold on the head cheerleader, as well.

One of the workers must have seen the scuffle because the manger jogged over to them quickly. “Problem here, ladies?” he said with an annoyed attitude.

Spencer looked from the two girls giving each other death glares, and stuttered for an answer. “Uh, no…we were just…uh…leaving. C’mon, Ashley.” she said with another tug to Ashley’s forearm. The brunette reluctantly let Spencer lead her away from the area and nearly ran back to finish the job when she saw Madison smirk.

They walked out to Ashley’s car, and got in, sitting in a tense silence. Spencer remained silent as Ashley was breathing heavily trying to calm herself down. The blonde figured that she was coming around until the brunette had let out a short scream and pounded her fists on the steering wheel so hard that the horn sounded, momentarily. The action made Spencer jump.

“Ash, calm down.” Spencer tried, hopefully, to help Ashley simmer down.

Ashley turned to Spencer with a scowl, “Calm down? Calm down? Yeah, okay, I’ll just do that, then!”

Spencer shook her head and grabbed Ashley’s arm, pulling her into a tight embrace. Much to her surprise, Ashley didn’t try to pull away as she melted into the contact. The blonde caressed her back, lightly. “It’s okay.” she soothed.

“No, it’s not, Spencer.” Ashley protested as she pulled back, with a single tear running down her cheek. “Those things she said about you…just pissed me off so much.”

Spencer reached up and rested her hand on Ashley face, wiping the tear away with her thumb, “Don’t worry about it.” Ashley raised a questionable brow as Spencer continued, “The way you showed her lets me know that it’s not true. We both know she’s a bitch, Ashley. You did the best you could.”

“I’m just sorry it wasn’t enough.”

“Ash, stop. It was enough, okay?” Spencer said as she gave Ashley a short, reassuring kiss. “Now, let’s just head to school, and tell Aiden what he’s gotten himself into, yeah?”

Ashley laughed lightly, as she readjusted herself in her seat, preparing to drive. “Yeah, that boy is definitely sick.”

“Well, obviously, I mean if you guys did something to get a scratch under you eye, he must be sick.”

Ashley laughed as she sighed. “Well, I figured that would get her riled.”

“Well, you were right, my dear.”

Ashley pulled out of the parking lot; they drove off in laughter despite the prior events. The brunette would admit that the day wasn’t completely shot. Well, for that time, at least.
