Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 22: Killin’ Time, Killin’ Nerves.)

    “Hey, now! I’m still badass…”

    “Oh, yeah?”

    “YEAH!”

“Sure, whatever,” Spencer said with a flick of her wrist.

The brunette’s mouth fell open in astonishment. “I…but…you…did…” she stammered.

The taller girl merely laughed. “Ash, I’m kidding. Calm down.”

Ashley stuck her tongue out at the other girl. Right at that time a stranger, on the way to their gate most likely, sideswiped the brunette making some of the iced coffee spill onto her shirt. Without stopping to apologize, the stranger was once again lost in the sea of people throughout the airport.

“No fuckin’ way!” the petite girl shouted. She handed the drink to Spencer and wiped furiously at her shirt.

“It’s only a little,” Spencer offered.

“I liked this shirt!” Ashley fumed.

“Ashley, it’s a black t-shirt. You can hardly see it. Besides, it’s washable.”

“But they didn’t even apologize!” the brunette huffed. “Thank God for getting out of LA for a while…this is just annoying.”

“Hah, yeah,” Sqencer agreed. She bit the inside of her cheek, “What time is it, now?”

Fishing out her cell phone, Ashley flipped it open and examined the screen. “8:45”

    “We should head back.”

“Yeah.” The shorter girl looked around. She saw a small group of people sitting in a waiting area for their gate—probably delayed as well. An idea shot into Ashley’s mind, and she smirked.

“What are you thinking?” Spencer asked, seeing the other girl’s facial expression.

“Okay, I heard about this somewhere; I forget, but I so have to try it.” Ashley started to walk towards the waiting people. “Wait here; it’ll only take a minute.”

The brunette made her way over to the gate, leaving the other girl looking positively confused. She walked right up to a man who was quietly reading the new paper. Standing in front of them, she cleared her face from all emotion, and waited for them to look up.

When they felt the stare of someone in their personal space, the random person looked up and raised a brow at Ashley.

With a monotone voice, the brunette said, “Don’t get on the flight,” she shook her head once and walked away quickly, but still slow at the same time.

The man’s eyes widened and he looked over at the person sitting next to him—most likely a friend—and said, “Dude…I don’t think we should get on this fuckin’ flight.”

His friend looked over at him and said, “Dude, what?”

“I think an angel just came and told me not to get on this fuckin’ flight!”

The other man just looked at his friend and just shook his head. “Dude, you’re a fucking idiot.”

“Dude, no! I don’t think we should get on this fuckin’ flight!” He looked after Ashley who was back near Spencer.

“Walk fast,” the brunette said while grabbing the other’s girl’s arm and tugging her along.

“What did you do?” Spencer demanded.

The man that Ashley talked to stood up and shouted, “THANK YOU ANGEL WEARING JEANS!!!!”

The brunette snorted before turning her walk into a quick jog. Spencer followed after her and shook her head, “You’re awful!”
