Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch 2: Shake it Off)

“So nothing happened? Nothing at all?”

I shake my head, “Nope.” Walking over to the fridge, I grab two sodas and toss one at him.

He catches it, “I thought Spencer said that if you wouldn’t make the relationship go further, you two were finished.”

I pop my can and let the fizz settle, “She did.” I say simply before taking a drink.

    He looks positively confused, “So…uh?”

I love confusing him. “We’ll just see what happens, in time, Aid.” It’s so easy, too.

He shrugs while popping his own can and walking over to sit next to me at the counter.

    “So, where is she, now?”

I sigh, “Home.” I swallow some more of my soda, “Glen tore his ACL while playing a pick up game somewhere.”

    He chokes a little, “S-seriously?!”

    “Uh, yeah, seriously.”

“Huh, that must be why Madison-” he stops talking when he notices me giving him a look. “Never mind.”

    “What?”

    “Nothing. Really.”

I roll my eyes and take another sip of soda.

“Okay, I lied. We slept together, last night.”

Way to wait before I swallow! I spit the contents out of my mouth and start coughing from the shock. “What?!” I manage in between coughs.

“Breathe, Ash!” he pats my back lightly until my coughing calms.

“What the fuck, Aiden? You slept with her?” I don’t believe this.

He lets out a heavy breath, “Yeah.”

    “Why?!”

“Chill out, would you? I don’t know why. I was at Grey last night and she came and we just started talking.”

    “She said nothing about Glen?”

    He shakes his head, “Nope.”

“So you just slept with her thinking she was still with him?”

“Truthfully, he didn’t cross my mind.”

I scoff, “Wow, that’s low even for you, Aiden.”

He shakes his head shamefully, “Well, you of all people should know when you sleep with someone, it’s easy to fall back into it.”

“Yeah, whatever, at least I’m smart enough to change.”

His turn to scoff, “You, Ashley Davies, change? Especially when it comes to sex?” bastard’s mocking me.

I glare at him, “Yeah, Aiden, I plan to stop sleeping around.”

He chuckles. I swear I could kill him right now. “Sure, Skippy.”

Skippy? What the fuck? “Okay, my name’s not Skippy, and I would appreciate it if you would stop mocking me! People can change, Aiden!” He looks taken aback with my sudden yelling, so I bring my voice back down to a normal level. “Sorry.” I shake my head and look down. “I’m doing this for Spencer.”
