    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 7-Confrontation)

"Ever since last night, I feel rejuvenated, like my soul was given new life or something. Without you, my life wouldn’t be so interesting as it is now." She whispers soothingly into my ear. My heart froze as she said this.

Even though she said I’ve affected her life with that positive implication in her tone, I really hope she’s aware of the negative events that are soon to follow. "Don’t think it’s all fun in the sun, Spence. Remember what those immortals were talking about yesterday? About some war…" I started to say until I choked on the last word.

I didn’t even allow Evana to finish talking and it was about something extremely crucial. Spencer must have caught me thinking twice as she slowly lifted herself off the bed. "The war? Ashley, do you realize what you did yesterday? That creepy woman was talking to you about a war and you ignored her! What if we don’t run into her again?" Spencer asked, now infuriated at my last-minute-thinking mistake.

She forced herself off the bed and I jumped off as well to stop her. "Spencer, wait! You have to understand why I ran off. She murdered my great ancestor, Misty!" I called out after her.

Spencer was half listening as I suspected. She continued running down the grand spiral staircase that led to my room and nearly fell flat on her face as she missed a step. "Goddamn you…" I hear her mutter, other swear words forming in the back of her mind.

Instead of climbing all the way down, I lazily hovered towards the ground because my legs were too weak to work themselves. "Spencer, wait! What do you plan to do because now that there’s a so-called war mentioned, I can’t let you out of my protective sight!" I say, now standing a few feet in front of her.

She stops momentarily but once her eyes found the living room, she walked past me, pushing me aside in the process. We both stopped dead when we entered the unusually cluttered living room. There were wine glasses half empty of blood and blankets were scattered and the coffee table was misplaced.

To my immediate dislike, the scent of dog shit flew into my nose.
