    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 11-The War)

I was confused, what did he mean by that ambiguous statement?

My heart pounded against my chest, telling me that I shall not give him the right to live any longer but I was hypnotized.

"I beg your pardon but are you mentally ill? You’re addressing my beloved sister as though you knew her." Kyla stated, now walking next to me with a hard look on her face. His attention suddenly turned to her and his mouth was agape, like her presence was shocking to him as well.

"…" Was all the man could say, his legs trembling in fear.

"What say you? Are you going to stand there just gawking at us or do you intend on defending your statement?" Kyla continued, my hand reaching for her arm so I could restrain her from doing anything else. "I know this isn’t the right time but Jesus Christ, you just proved to me that you’re really over a hundred years old by the way you talk." Spencer whispered in my ear.

I grinned for only a second before the man decided to reply. "I…I want you two girls to stand aside. Murdering the fiends behind you will only take a moment if you allow me to." He demanded, preparing his cane for an attack. I scoffed at the man’s ignorance.

"Excuse me? You think I’m going to allow a criminal like you to kill off what family I have left? I don’t think so, mister." I say, rubbing the part of my arm that was burning. It seemed like the tattoo of my mother wanted to burst out but I contained the rage it felt.

The old man chuckled first, then laughed like a maniac even though there was nothing humorous about what I just said. "Family? You think those abominable creatures are your family? Ashley. Kyla. I’m the only real family you’ve got left." He said rather seriously, tipping his hat backwards though he revealed nothing of his facial features since he was sporting a black mask over his eyes.

Wait, did he just say me and my sister’s names? But how did he know, we’ve never even met until now.

"Do you keep a list of the innocent immortals you want to murder or what’s your secret? Speak now or suffer!" I hear Judith call out, her nervousness could be felt in my heart and it pained me that she was going to take place in a battle that I apparently brought more cause in fighting for.
