    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 11-The War)

I didn’t want to concentrate on her anymore but I was curious as how she had found the time to go out on a whim to do this personal research.

"How did you come up with that conclusion?" Spencer asked, her voice slightly raised due to approaching danger. I wonder if she could get accustomed to using her powers even though she’s still a brand new immortal.

It seemed like the question had struck unwanted memories in Evana because the much older woman bit her bottom lip hard enough to make it bleed a little bit. Without taking her eyes off the Black Parade, Arial began stroking her guardian’s hair and whispered words of comfort hurriedly.

"You must tell them, or else they will no longer trust the ones who deserve to be trusted." Her voice was audible enough for all of us to hear and it made all of us shift closer towards the woman. Her eyes scanned the ridiculous marching band and they were only a few yards away, so she had to force herself to speak of another trauma that invaded her memories.

"It was about a month ago when both Arial and I were coming to the place we once called home. My ex-fiance Jonathon was supposed to be waiting for us with dinner prepared but we were wrong."

"When I opened the main door, I immediately noticed something wrong because the lock had been picked. As Arial and I entered cautiously, there was a man sporting a white top hat and his cane…it was placed through one of Jonathon’s eyes and it wasn’t enough for the man to bleed to death. The cane absorbed his immortal powers so he was basically being sucked like a vacuum, his skin dissolved and all that was left was a pile of burning bones." She finished, avoiding the horrified gazes of the group.

I was disgusted because the whole scene could be replayed inside of my mind, even though I wasn’t a witness. Arial nudged the older woman to finish the story, much to her obvious reluctance that showed when she sighed irritably.

"Arial made a noise and I had to cover up her mouth but the man already saw our faces. He told me that instead of running, we should submit ourselves or else we suffer terrible consequences. I care for my fledgling, you see, so we escaped…" Evana said, with a bloody red tear falling down her cheek.
