A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 11-The War)
I gulped quite loudly because I didn’t realize how soon mine and Spencer’s destiny was approaching. After Aiden growled loudly at the strangers continuously playing their terrifying music, he finally spoke with patience lacking in his tone.
"How do you know all of this? You’ve been with us this whole time so you couldn’t have been spying when there was hardly any time for you to escape our vision."
I actually agreed with his suspicion because the last few days we have been on the road, Arial and Evana never went anywhere without constant supervision. Arial smirked and decided to take it upon herself to reply.
"You hold every right to cast your suspicions upon us but I must insist that none of you are as knowledgeable as Evana is. Tell them what you know." She said pointing to her guardian, avoiding Spencer and I’s worried looks.
"I was supposed to warn you about them awhile back but it must have slipped my mind as we got into this whole situation of transforming Spencer and running away from the attacks taking place." She began, her worry beginning to increase the louder the music got in the background.
Spencer reached for my hand and I nearly jumped at her touch but her gentle grip relaxed the tension within me. The moment she grabbed for my hand, the ground underneath us shook with tremendous force. I had nearly forgotten that our unspeakable connection was finally stronger than ever.
Like an earthquake, we heard glass shattering from up ahead and we all turned our heads all at once to glance at the mess that was the Black Parade. The float was thrown backwards and the inhabitants were screeching at the slightest feeling of pain.
Though it was a set-back, the creatures stood up from where they fell on their backs and continued playing their music. The tall man in the weird black suit had avoided the near catastrophe as he flew up in mid-air before gliding back towards the ground safely and unharmed.
"These bastards sure want to make an entrance, despite their humiliation." Judith said before we all broke out into nervous laughter.
"Anyway, before running into you two girls, I had been hearing rumors of a group that was determined to eliminate the vampire race. So I did some stalking of well-known immortals across the U.S. and Canada, and it turns out that this Black Parade is targeting very powerful immortals." The legendary woman continued, still watching the creatures coming towards us carefully.
