    Bette and Tina in Raleigh North Carolina, getting ready for the tournament.

    Chapter 26

     

    Three weeks later, Bette and Tina are on their way to North Carolina.

    The tournament is in Raleigh, which is not far from Chapel Hill. Bette booked a hotel room in Raleigh for 7 days. The tournament only lasted for 4, but she hoped that she could help Tina with her family. They got to the hotel around 10 in the morning and had the whole day to themselves.  Bette didnt have to be at the course until tomorrow morning.

    Lara was scheduled to get in tomorrow morning. She had said yes to be Bettes caddy for the tournament.

    Hey, Tee, want to go for a sightseeing? Bette asks cheerily.

    Bette, I grew up here, I dont need a sightseeing. Tina replies, suspecting what Bette is trying to do.

    Well, I could need a sightseeing, Ive only been here once, and that was 7 years ago. Please Tina. Bette asks almost pleading.

    Tina looked at Bette.

    I know what youre trying to do. Tina says.

    What? Bette asks.

    Youre working on some plan to get to meet my family. Well, that wont happen. I dont want to see them. Tina says.

    Bette walks over to Tina, who has taken a seat on the bedside. She puts her arm around Tinas shoulder.

    Tee, I know what family means to you. Its the most important thing. I want to help you. Bette says.

    Babe, you cant change them, I know them. Tina says. They are stubborn old Tina starts, but doesnt come up with the right word.

    Can we at least go out for lunch? Bette asks as she smiles at Tina.

    Yeah. We could eat. Tina says and smiles back.

    Bette grabs Tinas hand and they walk out of the room and down to the lobby. There Bette rents a car, a SUV.

    At least could you show me a good place to eat? Bette says softly.

    Tina smiles, they walk out to the car. Bette gives Tina the keys.

    Here, you drive. Bette says.

    You sure? Tina asks a little surprised.

    Yes, I am. Take me to a good caf or diner. Bette says and gets in, leaning back.

     

    Tina drove away from the hotel, and into the town. It hadnt changed much in 5 years. Her favorite diner, were still there. She parks the car outside, on the side of the road. They walk inside. The owner of the diner recognized Bette as soon as she entered. They take a seat in one of the booths. The owner walks over to them. He smiles down at Bette. Who looks up at him and smiles.

      Well, Marsupial’s idea is temptating, I must say. I also think that Lara shouldn’t tell so much details to Sarah : that had to be Tina’s choice indeed. However, I like Lara’s character very much so I’d be indulgent ! (lol)
      Now I’m waiting for the answer to the big current question : will Tina see her sister and/or parents soon ? I wonder…

    7. It’s nice how Tina is working alongside the tournament – now she and Bette won’t be apart. It still feels as if Lara is up to something concerning Bette. Maybe I’m just paranoid…LOL. Nice chapter Lauren

    10. i hope Bette gets her qualification and i´m with Jwet about meet the parents after the qualifier cuz will be very dificult to Tina and to Bette cuz she has a lot in her mind and she has to be support to Tina as well… i was wondering if Tina will met some older gf..lol..i love Bette jealous..lol..do i have to say i love it?..i do..thanks Lauren

    12. Thanks for the post. I think that Lara over stepped by telling Tina’s sister that she is with Bette and in N.C. Tina should have been allowed to decide if she wanted to contact her family while she is in town. She could just told her that she was very happy and a successful photographer. I also hope that Sarah waits until after Bette is finished playing before she contacts Tina.
