Safe in each other’s arms…Chapter seventeen

    Chapter seventeen

After their little encounter in the shower, both Bette and Tina went to work feeling satisfied and o so in love. Broad smiles covered their faces as they dove in their work. Bette was giving some final directions to another accountant, when she heard her boss calling her name.

Andrea: “Bette, you wanted to talk to me?”

Bette: “Yes Andrea. Can we talk in your office?”

    Andrea: “Sure.”

They walked over to Andrea’s office. Andrea sat down in her chair and Bette sat down in the chair across her.

Andrea: “So what did you wanted to ask me?”

Bette: “Well, I was wondering if I could leave earlier today. It’s not that I can’t manage my job, it’s just that I have some personal stuff to do today and I’d like to leave here at 3, if that’s okay with you.”

Andrea: “Bette, let me first say that I’m very glad to see you back and healthy. You could have stayed home a few more days after being in the coma, but you devoted yourself to your work as soon as possible, as you always have. I truly appreciate and respect all your work and effort. You always finish your tasks and even do more than is asked, so I have no objection to you leaving a little earlier. As long as you do all your work properly, I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t go home.”

Bette: “Thanks Andrea, I really appreciate it.”

Andrea: “Oh, call me Andy. Andrea is so formal. I would prefer it if you called me Andy.”

    Bette: “Okay Andy. Thanks again.”

Bette rises from her chair as Andy starts to speak again.

Andy: “Bette, there’s something I wanted to ask you.”

Bette sits back down in her chair and looks at Andy.

Andy: “We just hired a new accountant. She just graduated from Yale and hasn’t really worked yet. As you know, it is sometimes difficult to get used to the job, so I was wondering if you could guide her a little? Just show her how everything works, you know?”

Bette: “Sure, when does she starts?”

Andy: “Wednesday. Her name is Marie.”

Bette: “Okay, I’ll introduce her to our world, don’t worry. Thanks again Andy.”
