    Ashley: Did you…did you sleep with any of them?

    Spencer: I uh….

    (Spencer looked away from Ashley. She couldn’t look into her eyes at that moment. Spencer did a lot of things she is isn’t proud of. Her and Ashley are just starting to mend their relationship. Now, she has to tell Ashley that unlike her, she slept with other people. A lot. It was her escape. But would Ashley see it like that? Spencer was hurting, and just needed something to fix it. She knew it was a temporary fix, but in that moment it was all there was for her. And it hurts now even more to find out that in those five years, Ashley remained faithful to her. Even if she wasn’t with her. Yet, for Spencer, it didn’t matter. She slept with anyone who came her way. How would Ashley look at her after she told her? Would she still love her? Want to be together? These all weighed heavily on Spencer right now. She was afraid of what Ashley would say or do. But they promised each other the truth, and the truth she shall speak. Even if it means, she might lose Ashley.)

    Spencer Continued: The truth right…Yes. I did. And not with just one person. I couldn’t even tell you how many. I was always drunk or high. I just wanted something to numb the pain. I know it’s no excuse, and I wouldn’t hold it against you if you don’t want to see anymore. I never meant to hurt. But it seems like that’s all I do lately. Maybe this was mistake…maybe too many years went by….I don’t….

    (Spencer bean to cry again. Ashley looked a her with tears falling down her cheeks and onto her shirt. As much as she wanted the truth, to hear it…was like another blow to her to heart. She had often wondered what happened to Spencer. How she was. What she was doing. But she never thought Spencer would turn to a life of drugs, sex and alcohol. This hurt Ashley deeply. Knowing that she caused this. How could she be mad at the girl, when she put her into this predicament. Sure, Spencer was old enough to know the difference between right and wrong, but when you’re ed to believe you’re the cause of someone else’s death…you tend to do self-destructive behavior. Ashley looked at Spencer crying. She hurt because Spencer was hurting. She raised her hand to Spencer’s cheek, wiping away the remnants of tears. Spencer looked up at her with a look of surprise. As Ashley caressed her face, Spencer began to lean into the touch.)

    3. I just caught up with this story and I’m literally kicking my own ass for not finding it sooner. It’s so powerful! I like that you’re keeping it realistic instead of just saying that Ashley and Spencer are going to live happily ever after with nothing to work out. This is an amazing story, simply breathtaking. Post more soon!
