    Young Folks – Chapter 18A

    To: Sierra Rhymer

I’m doing okay. Thank you for asking.

Sierra’s a sweet girl, nice and pretty attractive but Bette just didn’t have feelings for her like how she has feelings for Helena.  Bette squeezed her eyes shut, as if squeezing the thoughts out of her head.

Her phone vibrated against her hand, and it was another text message from Sierra.

    From: Sierra Rhymer

Good to hear that you’re doing okay. Are you free tonight?

“Ah, crap.” Bette cussed under her breath, knowing that Sierra would want to talk about the kiss. Bette contemplated in her head, whether she should meet up with Sierra to sit down and clear up the misunderstanding which would most probably lead to more drama or, alternatively, she could just lie her way out and not deal with any of the mess just yet.

Her head had began to hurt at the thought of how dramatic everything would get if she were to meet up with Sierra. And of course, in the end, she picked the easy way out.

    To: Sierra Rhymer

    I’m sorry, but I can’t do tonight.

She sent the text message and immediately felt guilty for lying. Well, technically, she wasn’t exactly lying. She was just, well, avoiding the truth.

Bette was shaken out of her thoughts when there was a loud insistent knocking on the front door. She got out of her bed, feeling somewhat excited thinking that Helena could have decided to come home earlier but at the same time had forgotten to bring her keys.

She opened the door with a wide smile on her face. However, the smile quickly faded as soon as she saw El standing at the door.

El didn’t look very much like himself. His hair was out of place, his shoulders were slumped forward and he looked absolutely worn out.

“Hey Bette. How’s it going?” He asked with a tired smile.

“Good, thank you. Yourself?” Bette asked in response, puzzled by the fact that El wasn’t at the luncheon with Helena.

“Pretty okay, I guess…” He murmured, running his hand through his hair. “Is Helena around?”

    1. Helena and Bette probably need to be alone at some point in the very near future. I think they need to have a talk lol. Good update and it’s good to see you around these parts again!

    2. uh oh…this could go really well….or really bad…i’m hoping sierra understands that it was an awkward mistake…but what will H think? how will she respond….so many questions, but i’m sure you’ll provide wonderful answers…

    3. Yaaay Bette, that’s what I’m talkin bout straighten this shit out and go get yo girl. This slow dance is driving me crazy. It’s time to woman up and talk and for the grace of god don’t let Bette wuss out. PPVS.

    4. Good thing Bette’s decided to confront Sierra and get everything out in the open. Now let’s just hope she sits down w/ helena and explains how she really feels for her as well.PPS
