    Young Folks – Chapter 18A

Bette woke up to the insisting sound of her phone vibrating against the table surface. She lazily stretched her left hand out towards the table, slowly feeling around for her phone.

The call had gone into voicemail before she could even retrieve her phone.

She unlocked her phone to see that she had two missed calls from Sierra and four text messages, three of which are from Helena and the other from Sierra.

    From: Helena Peabody

Good morning pothead. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve gone out to attend my parents’ luncheon and I won’t be back till late afternoon.

    From: Helena Peabody

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I’ve made lunch for you, a bowl of tomato bisque and a sandwich. I’ve left them in the oven.

Bette smiled to herself, appreciating the fact that Helena took the trouble to prepare a meal for her. It is moments like this that makes her feel that Helena has feelings for her but the fact that she was with El made it all complicated.

She groaned out loud at the thought of the happenings of the night before. Things were getting so messy and complicated and it made her head hurt just thinking about it. She pushed those thoughts to the back of her head as she opened the third text message from Helena.

    From: Helena Peabody

Don’t be a bum, please heat up your food before you eat.

Bette chuckled out loud. Helena knew her too well. She texted back a reply, thanking Helena for making her lunch and for the reminder to heat up her food. After which, she opened up the text from Sierra.

    From: Sierra Rhymer

Hey, just wanted to check how you’re doing. You okay?

Bette groaned again as her mind replayed the kiss she shared with the wrong person. She groaned at how that kiss would lead Sierra to think otherwise. She texted back a reply, trying to sound as casual as she could, hoping that Sierra won’t bring up anything about the kiss. Maybe Sierra herself was drunk, stoned, whatever, just not in the right state of mind to remember the kiss.

    1. Helena and Bette probably need to be alone at some point in the very near future. I think they need to have a talk lol. Good update and it’s good to see you around these parts again!

    2. uh oh…this could go really well….or really bad…i’m hoping sierra understands that it was an awkward mistake…but what will H think? how will she respond….so many questions, but i’m sure you’ll provide wonderful answers…
