    Chapter 17 A visit to the gallery…

    Chapter 17

     

    The next morning they were back in the old routine.  Angie was up and ready for school.  She was excited to tell all her friends that Momma B was home! 

     

    Once they had dropped Angie off at school they headed for the gallery.  Bette couldn’t wait to see the look on James’ face.  She and Tina strolled into the front of the gallery hand in hand.  They could hear James talking in the back so they took a little time to walk around.  Bette always knew that James could handle things but he had really proven himself when he had to.  Things looked great.  Bette had a huge smile on her face.  They heard James put the phone down so they headed toward the back.  James was making some notes as they walked up to his desk.  As he finished he looked up “how may I help you…OH MY GOD!” with that he sprang to his feet and grabbed Bette around the waist hoisting her into the air and swinging her around in circles.  As the reality of what he was doing hit him, he quickly dropped her to the floor once again and began to apologize “Bette oh my god…I am so sorry…I don’t know what came over me…”

     

    “James! It’s all right.  I am glad to see you too.”  The smile on her face told him he was going to keep his head.  Tina just stood there laughing.

     

    Then all the questions started…”Where have you been?  When did you get home?  I am just so glad you are ok.”

     

    Bette just smiled “let’s get some coffee and I will fill you in but before I do let me just say you have done an outstanding job in my absence.” 

     

    “Thanks Bette but I am certainly glad you are back and I can turn it all back over to you.  I never realized what a job it is running a gallery. Now, let me get us some coffee and let me show you the plans for the opening.”  With that they set about updating each other on the last 6 months.  The plans that James had prepared for the show were just awesome.  James admitted that Tina had helped a lot with keeping him on point with Bette’s vision.  Bette just smiled at Tina and kissed her cheek.
