Without Tim – Part 61 (Season 3 Recap; Season 4 Premiere Part 1)
Crying would become a constant theme for various reasons. From the downfall of Bette and Tina’s relationship to Helena’s heartbreak over Dylan to Shane and Carmen’s relationship, things somehow managed to become even worse as they involved Dana and Lara, as well as Alice. Alice was in love with both Dana and Lara and it bothered all three greatly. While Lara would turn down the notion of Alice becoming part of the relationship, Dana would have a one night stand with Alice before feeling bad instantly. That night, while Lara was off working with Carmen and Francesca on set with Veronica Bloom, Alice was discovering a small lump on Dana’s right breast in the midst of a tryst. It seemed like no big deal initially, but months later the lump would grow with Lara now discovering it. Dana would put off seeing a Doctor about it and when she did, it was too late. Dana now had breast cancer and with Alice and Dana’s issues unresolved and Lara only thinking she knew the whole story as it involved a brief kiss between Alice and Dana, things would become far worse. With everything falling apart, Lara would still confide in Carmen, who was having her own issues with Shane. It would be that friendship with Carmen that would keep Lara from leaving after almost being chased away by Dana. With Lara still around, she and Alice both would look after Dana and would both be there as she died. For Lara, this was all made worse by Alice’s accidental admission of there being a one night stand months before with Dana. During the wedding debacle, Alice would be the one to break the bad news of Shane’s departure to Carmen, but it would be Lara providing the most memorable moment, offering to marry Carmen on the spot. As the evening came to a close, the futures of Alice, Lara, and Carmen were all very much uncertain.
Though there were fallings apart, there was also a strengthening bond for Marina and Francesca, off to travel Europe until arriving back in Los Angeles the day of Dana’s death.
Someone else mourning the loss of Dana was Tonya, Dana’s former manager and agent and Alice’s ex-girlfriend. Tonya had disappeared from society and would reemerge during a chance meeting with Lara. It would be this moment where Tonya would tell Lara about wanting to get pregnant. She would also want to make amends to Alice by wanting to be there as a friend to not just her, but the rest of the group that she had let down with her earlier actions.
