    Window of Opportunity ch. 45

“T,” I said in a shaky voice, “I would love nothing more than to marry you. Thank you for making me the happiest person on Earth.”

“Are you sure Bette? If it’s too soon to even be thinking of marriage, it’s ok. I understand.”

“Baby, my lack of words was not based on uncertainty; it was because I was so stunned and happy that you took my ability to form words. I love you. I loved you yesterday and today, you exceeded any expectation I could have ever had. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to have more children with you. I want us to find that balance in our relationship that allows us to start looking toward the future and this, your proposal to me, gives us something to work toward. I know we aren’t ready today but I know we will be and I can’t wait for that day. In the meantime, I have a physical reminder of that day to come. I can’t believe you did this Tina. You have totally blown my mind.”

“I love you Bette. I want to make you as happy as you make me. I wanted to be the one to propose to you because I’ve always been the one against marriage. My asking you to marry you is my declaration to you that I’m committed to the idea of marriage regardless to whether I’ve had doubts about the whole concept. I want it with you. I want you to be my wife and me, yours. I want our child and future children to have parents who have a legal obligation to each other so they are not as different as their friends. I want to celebrate my love for you with our friends and family. I want that ring on your finger to shout out to those women who look at you and want you to know that someone else looks at you and has you.”

“You do have me Tina. Forever is a long time to deal with me but you’re stuck with me.”

“There is no one I would rather be stuck with. Are you going to allow me to put your ring on you?”

I held out my hand to her and she placed the most exquisite piece of jewelry I had ever seen on my finger. Just feeling it on my hand put my thoughts and perspectives in a different place. Tina and I were together and we were looking toward our future.

    1. What an amazing chapter! So many beautiful moments…And so many remarkable spots to speak of…But I’ll restrain myself…My favorite line, I think, was: “I want to know what she’s feeling and what she’s thinking.” To me, that’s a picture of love…wanting to embrace the all of it. Forgiveness is a truly marvelous thing. Not sure I’m making any sense…but…Wonderfully deep storytelling. Thanks, nagster :)

    2. What a wonderful chapter Newage. Having them loving one another so deeply after everything they’ve been through is truly wonderful. Now let’s see what the parents will do, although I think they have learned their lesson and will not be able to find enough ways to be nice and sweet to everyone and besides Angie will talk their heads off after she gets used to them, about a day probably. PPS

    3. Everything you wrote was so beautiful. The whole chapter was awesome. Love Angie Pink hat. Shane was so funny, saying that Angie was just like Alice. Motor mouth. thanks so much for posting

    4. So much is left to our interpretation on the show between B&T. Your writing gives us the reunion story that should have been told! Great chapter!

    5. What a very Wonderful story ! Love the line: ” She was a woman possessed and since I kept up with her, I must have been too …” LOL makes me giggle!

    6. Yes!!! Glad Bette managed to mumble that word out after recovering from her state of shock. It’s the only apt respone to Tina’s heartfelt proposal. Sooo happy for these two. Loved the gleam in Tina’s eyes when she looked around Dean Porter’s office. I have a feeling they’ll eventually do the deed there; it’s only a matter of time. *wink* If they can make it at the backseat of a cab, they can certainly make it anywhere! Loved the adorable motormouth Angie who must have gotten that trait from Alice through osmosis. Is this the calm before the probable awkward, stormy visit of Tina’s folks? Let’s see how that reunion will play out. Btw, I hope you’re not done with the envelopes yet. There’s so much more about their storied past that I want to find out like when did they decide to live together? What and where was their first love nest? How and when did they decide to have a family? What about their commitment ceremony? Just throwing some ideas. :> Thanks for a truly enjoyable chapter, newagegirl! PPS :>
