    Bette and Dorrie talk…Bette is in pain…and tells a tale of woe!

    Clara is beautiful. Looks just like her father.

    Yes, she does, says Bette, then, How do you know what her father looks like?

    Julia has pictures of all of you throughout her house.

    How come you decided to finally move out here Bette. Julia has been asking you to do that for ages.

    Bette didnt really want to be having this conversation with this woman, whom she never really completely trusted, even though they were best friends. Go figure. She knew that she had to make an effort to be civil, for her mothers sake at least.

    I felt it was time, Bette shrugged

    Dorrie raised an eyebrow at this, Time? Julia has been trying to get you to come for a while, she commented repeating herself, Why now?

    Why does it matter, Bette asked defensively

    Im just curious, Dorrie asked softly smiling

    Bette frowned at this. The woman before her seemed to be having multiple personality or something. Bette decided to go with the truth anyway.

    The only reason we stayed in Chicago was because of Davids job. After he died I was going to move out here but…

    What happened?

    Dorrie didnt say anything, just smiled.

    We couldnt immediately move because of my job and the kids were so young. After I had Shay I knew that we needed to be closer to family so we all voted and decided to move here.

    She received a nod from the woman before her, Sounds reasonable. So tell me…have you always known you were a *****?

    Bette raised an eyebrow at that, Whoever said that I was a *****?

    Its not hard to figure out Bette.

    Bette shook her head at this, Okay then. On this note we need to end this little conversation, she got to her feet with Dorrie following suit

    Im sorry if I offended you Bette.

    Oh, no, no you didnt offend me. I just cant stomach this conversation anymore. Just because we once knew each other and you are marrying my mother doesnt give you the license to butt into my personal business.

    Im sorry Bette.

    Dont apologize just leave my house.

    Bette headed toward the door with Dorrie trailing behind her.

    You arent going to mention this to Julia are you?

    Bette opened the door as Dorrie stepped outside, Youre the one marrying her. Its your responsibility to be open and honest with her.

    With that Bette slammed the door closed and leaned her back against the door and sighed heavily.

    Why just my life be so crazy?

    With that question being asked she heard a loud…MOM!

    A soft whimper escaped Bette as she pushed off the door to go and solve the next crisis her life dealt her.

    19. I’m confused on this chapter. I thought Dorrie was friends with Bette’s mother? Where does this whole “she and Bette were best friends, but now Bette doesn’t like her” idea come from?
