    Bette and Dorrie talk…Bette is in pain…and tells a tale of woe!

    Dorrie visibly flinched, I didnt take advantage of you Bette.

    You keep believing that and perhaps youll convince yourself. There are no hard feelings on my part though, Bette shrugged, It didnt have any lasting impact on my life. Not that Im saying your technique was bad or anything…I just dont remember a whole lot of that night. Do you want my mother to know about that night, was asked with a raised eyebrow

    It was Dorries turn to frown, There are some things that are in ones past that should be kept in the past.

    Dorrie sighed, Jewels also told me about your new friend.

    Bette narrowed her eyes at the woman before her, And?

    What is her name…Tammy.

    Tina.

    Youve only known this Tina woman for two days and already she is meeting mommy.

    Hurrah for you, you won the prize, Bette remarked waving her hands in the air, Again whats your point?

    I have no point, Dorrie interjected, I was merely making conversation.

    Well if this is the conversation you are going to make you can do it alone. I dont have time for this.

    Dorrie held up her hands in an attempt to placate the woman before her, Im sorry Bette. I dont mean to make you upset.

    Im not upset, Bette smiled, Merely annoyed.

    Dorrie was about to say something when Clara appeared at the top of the landing of the stairs peering down on them.

    What is it Clara, Bette asked

    Rob and I have talked and we worked things out.

    Bette smiled at this, Excellent. You can make up the guest room across from my room for young Robert to sleep in.

    Clara frowned at this, Thats on the other side of the house. Why doesnt he take the room next to…oh. Right. Ill go make up the room across from yours.

    Thanks you sweets.

    Clara disappeared and Bette turned her attention back to her former friend and woman her own mother was in love with. God her life was strange.

    19. I’m confused on this chapter. I thought Dorrie was friends with Bette’s mother? Where does this whole “she and Bette were best friends, but now Bette doesn’t like her” idea come from?
