    Chapter 45

    Chapter 45

    Tina found she had time on her hands.  After making arrangements for her and Angelica to fly back to New York tomorrow late in the day she had nothing else to do.  Well that wasn’t entirely true, her voice mail was full with work issues but for once there wasn’t that awful guilt telling her she needed to keep her nose to the grindstone.

    Tina still had that feeling about her, the one she use to get as a child that left her feeling happy and full of excited anticipation.  She looks around the room not really knowing what she is looking for and settles on the sliding door.  Pulling back the curtains she feels the sudden warmth of the sun as well as sees the immediate brightening.  Tina instinctively unlocks the door and throws it open.  Walking out to the small balcony she leans against the railing letting the feel of the sun warm her upraised face.  It’s been quite a while since she’s felt these butterflies in her stomach and felt they foretold good fortune instead of dread and apprehension.  

    The sun was far beyond its peak in the sky but still a force to be reckoned its journey for the day long from over.  With the heat of the sun warming her face, Tina closed her eyes and smiled.  For the first time in a long time Tina felt free to just enjoy the moment of peace.

    Angelica couldn’t look up from the paper placemat on the table right in front of her.  Suddenly she subconsciously began tracing the colorful border with her eyes.  While her eyes moved her mind searched for what to say.  How much did Bette want to know and why now just when things were going so well.  The fear that scared her so much that she couldn’t voice it was the notion that if Bette really knew of all that she had done it would be the end.  How could Bette want anything further to do with her when she was such a liar and cheat?

    Again she pleads why now?  She has finally found someone in her life she can relate to, someone she feels attune with, someone she really likes and wants to impress.  She just knows that if she tells the truth, about how she has lied and cheated, deceived and tricked her Mom and others that Bette will turn and leave her.  Yes that’s what she fears seeing the look of hurt and betrayal turn to hate and disgust.  Angelica has seen that look of disgust before.  To see it spread across Bette’s beautiful features would tear apart something that Angelica didn’t even know she had.  No it was imperative that Angelica not loose Bette as her friend.

    2. This is getting so interesting and could become explosive down the road. There is that otherness that Tina was so concerned with when the subject of Marcus came up. I am saddened that this story will be coming to an end, hopefully a happy one. I remeber when you first started you had mentioned that this was a story about Bette and Angelica and not so much one about Bette and Tina, but in one sense it is about Bette and Tina and this lovely teen who is as much like Bette as she is like Tina.

    3. Life WOULD be easier if we could control others, but a lot less interesting. So Tina needs to be honest with Angelica and Angelica needs to be honest with Tina. Most of all Tina needs to be honest with herself. Your not going to get sequestered, are you? Good luck!

    4. bette’s description of angie’s relationship with her mom is like describing herself when she was with tina. i hope that she will be able to make angie appreciate who she is and what she has. goodluck in court tomorrow!

    10. I love the way you write Angie; you just want to put your arms around her and make it all better. And Bette is the gal who can do this. Please help Tina to understand this. Great story.

    11. I really hope that Angelicis will realy listen and understand what Bette is trying to tell her. Hopefully Tina will be able to tell Angie who Bette really is before they leave for NY or maybe not. Then again, that might just be too much for Angie to hear and understand. One thing that I hope Tina does is to haveher attorney in NY send the papers that she had drawn up when Angie was born, to Bette or to Tina showing that Bette is Angie’sother mother and that she wants her to have a part in Angie’s life. That would be so important to them at this point.Angie feels that love from Bette but she does not understand the feeling just yet or why she is feeling it. Tina must also admit to herself why he is so freaking happy at the moment, that it is all attributable to the one and only Bette Porter, the love of her life. Sure hope Tina changes her mind about taking them back to NY so soon, hopefully they could spend the rest of the week in LA, it would be so good for all of them. Hate to see this story end and maybe, just maybe if we are good boys and girls we can get you to do a sequel because this story just can’t end now, unless there is a very happy ending for all concerned. Angie needs to know just how much she is loved by people that have never seen her before because she is her mother’s child and they love her. I love this story so much. PPS

    12. OMG, its Bette Jr. She is so much like Bette keeping things from tina trying to protect her. I hope Bette will be able to get all of what Angie fears and worries about out of her. Then hopefully Tina will give Bette time to explain. They also need to be honest with Angie. They are also keeping stuff from her.

    14. I appreciate how you breathe life into all your characters. Angie connects deeply with Bette. I hope she doesn’t become too angry or bitter when she learns how she was deprived of growing up with Bette in her life.

    16. Good luck tomorrow (today because of the huge time difference). I hope the results will be to your liking. Angelica meet Bette – this is you 20 years from now. Thanks for showing why Angie wasn’t “thinking” about her mom; but she destroyed her cell; so she wouldn’t know that her mom might be trying to call her….I’m on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what you planned for these wonderful characters. Mmmmm, with everyone going to Bette’s in the morning…reunion time? Again, thanks for the story. And good luck…keeping all my fingers and toes cross for you!

    18. Hello JWet, AM just caught up in the last three chapter. These have been so enjoyable. Firstly, Bette and Angelica are just wonderful together. Bette is being a great friend and adult to Angelica. She is hitting all of the right notes to get Angie to open up to her. They do share their biracial heritage and so Bette can honestly sympathize with Angelica. The world can be so cruel and Angie’s is feeling the full force of this brutality. I do hope that Bette helps her through this tough time. It was awesome to imagine hw Angie’s face lit up when she was talking about her feelings for the painting and then when she opened up about her Mom. There is real love there. Great to see how Angie’s youthful side came out as she discuss her deception and mother’s ignorance of this event. Lordy knows how she will feel when the truth is revealed. Bette was deliberate in checking with Shane and checking out the best way to handling this difficult conversation. I feel Bette is on the right lines. Even though all she wants to do is surround Angie with her arms and love providing a blanket from the harsh reality, Bette is holding back and letting Angelica lead the dialogue. Gentle suggestions are helping Angelica down the right path. Oh how Bette has changed and grown. I do hope Tina sees this too and stays long enough to experience the new and much improved Bette. Conflict is in the air and now compassion and comfort are needed. Bette and Tina’s connection is palpable. Can’t wait to see Angie’s reaction when she discovers who broke Bette’s heart. Brilliant and loving. There is so much honesty and truthfulness. Please continue soon.As always JWet, these are fleshed out 3-dimensional individuals within past history and deliberate character traits.
