Maria brings her a cup of coffee.

    Maria – Morning, Bette!

    Bette – Thanks, Maria!

Kit – You wake up too late!

Bette – I can’t wake up late in my own ranch?

    She smirks.

Bette – Oh wait … I can’t, because you sold us to a damn movie production!

Kit – I didn’t sell us! And I needed the money.

Bette – I offered to help you with the money.

    Kit – I don’t need your money!

Bette – I told you that it didn’t have to be my money! We could have raised the money in San Francisco.

Kit – I have my own way of doing things!

Bette – By destroying the peace and quiet of the ranch!

Kit – It will be fun! Everybody else is excited about it! Maybe it’s time for you to go to your cabin!

She stands up and leaves the kitchen. Bette sighs.

    Bette – I have every intention …

She takes a sip of her coffee.

    Chapter 7

Ranch house porch, morning: Kit is rocking in a chair. Bette comes out of the house and joins her on the porch, sitting in another rocking chair side by side.

Bette – I’m sorry … for being difficult. You know that I’m behind you a hundred percent on the summer camp.

    Kit nods.

Kit – It’s important to me, Bette. We didn’t have the same experiences in life. Your mom was white and you’ve only known wealth. You didn’t grow up in the hood like me.

Bette – But I’m still African American. I just didn’t agree with the movie.

    She sighs.

Bette – I’m proud of you. And I’ve appreciated your influence in my life. You’ve always kept me grounded.

    Her older sister’s face softens.

Kit – Thanks … It means a lot to me. I want to make you proud. I know how much heartache I caused you through the years. Without your help, I wouldn’t be here.

Bette – I was always proud of you growing up. And I’m even prouder now that you turned your life around.

She places a hand over her sister’s hand.

Bette – I’m glad to have my big sis back … even if she treats me like a baby sometimes.

    1. Hi dbff

Thanks for this very nice chapter, I see the plot is getting very interesting. I bet Tina feels uneasy and a little angry and she doesn’t know why. I think she is attracted to Bette. Waiting for your update.
