Rachel started to cook breakfast a full on feast and from the reaction of our three house guests I would guess that not a lot of home cooking had gone on in the last few weeks. I excused myself briefly to call Karen, who had returned to New York, and let her know we were safely home and by the time I returned to the kitchen, admittedly a good half an hour later Peggy had joined our motley crew.

    I welcomed her bear hug and felt sad that I knew these people of ours would all soon be leaving. I felt my eyes mist over and was suddenly aware of how tired I was. I glanced over at my wife trying to give her the message that I would not last much longer without a sleep.

    She seemed to pick up on it she had been especially protective of me the last 10 weeks and I was looking forward to the time when I could let the others in on our glorious secret but not yet not just now we had a few more weeks to go before we let than one out into the wider world.

    “Right y’all my lovely wife and I are dying from jet lag and want a nap before it is too late and from the looks of it Holly could use one too, so if you all will excuse us we are going to get our heads down. We have a lot to sort out I know with Bette and the show and Vito and the investigation and getting you all on your way to New York on Monday so for now please don’t think us rude if we step away to make sure  we have at least a fighting chance of having the energy to get through”

    I could always kiss her but just at that moment the urge was stronger than normal, everyone nodding at her statements as we left the room Rachel with one arm around my waste and one holding Holly we made our way to our room Keeping holly with us for now as we knew she had felt keenly our recent absence.
