It was getting late when Bette looked to her watch with worry.
‘Why hasn’t she called?’ Bette thought to herself, looking up to the ceiling. ‘Maybe I should call. No, don’t be stupid. She’ll call.’
Tina was just finishing up at work when she dialed Bette’s number.
"Hello?" Bette asked, her eyes searching nothing in particular as she waited for the anticipated voice.
"Hi Bette. I’m so sorry it took me so long to call you. Long day at work!"
"Aww, that’s okay," Bette smiled, relaxing the moment she heard Tina’s voice. She laid down on the couch and let out a deep breath. "I’m just glad to hear from you."
Tina smiled at that. "I really miss you." Then she felt stupid and overly anxious. "… Since earlier today," she added, shaking her head at herself.
"I miss you too," Bette smiled, "So … what are you thinking about right now?" She knew she was being mischievous, but she figured if Tina could do it, so could she.
Tina chuckled, "I … really don’t think I should say either."
"You sure?" Bette asked flirtaciously, running her hand through her hair.
Tina grinned to herself, realizing she had been daydreaming of what Bette would look like naked all day. "Ooh definitely."
Bette laughed at her answer. Suddenly she could hear traffic on Tina’s end, and she was immediately confused.
"Are you outside right now?" Bette asked, just assuming she had already arrived home.
"Yeah, just hooking," Tina teased, "It’s a part time job really."
Bette laughed, "That’s terrible!"
"I’m glad you laughed," Tina smiled, "What would I do if you thought it was crude?"
Bette grinned, "I won’t think anything you say is distasteful, Tina."
"I don’t know if you should say that," Tina teased again before trying to hail another cab. It was proving to be a difficult task. "Fucking drivers," she mumbled, accidentally into the phone.
"Sorry? …" Bette chuckled.
"Oh shit … sorry. I’ve been waiting for a cab for like … I don’t even know how long!" she laughed. "I feel like such an idiot! How can I not do this?"
Bette chuckled. "Where are you? Aren’t you at work? There should be plenty of cabs to take."
Tina laughed at herself. "I know," she sighed, sitting on the steps and dropping her head in her hands. "Seriously, I am so incapable of these things sometimes."

Tina is so lucky that Bette is her girlfriend. Bette made an effort to get Tina home safely. So Bette and Tina are now official GIRLFRIENDS.
