The Trouble With Love Chapter Twenty

“So, how was last night, after I left you?” asked Kate, wondering whether Bette acted on anything that she had said.

    “Why did Bette thank you?”

“Tina, you didn’t honestly think that while you were in the bathroom we didn’t talk about you, and as you have quite rightly pointed out, I do have an uncanny ability to give some spot on advice so I thought that, as Bette asked so nicely, I would give her the benefit of my wisdom.”

“Giver of the best advice and so modest with it. I really did fall on my feet when they hired you for this job.” laughed Tina.

“Tell me something, do you love her?”

    “You know I do.”

“OK, so tell me something else, do you want her back?”

“II don’t know. Ask me another.” replied Tina, intrigued by this question and answer game.

“When do you think ‘I don’t know’ might turn into a yes or a no?”

“I guess that’s the million dollar question. What did you say to Bette?” said Tina, hoping to divert Kate from her interrogation.

“I’m paraphrasing here, but basically, not to give up, to give you the time that you needed to figure out what you want and to tell you that she loves you and to make you believe that she’s worthy of your love in return. Was that OK?”

“Yeah, that’s OK, and Kate, thanks.”

“No problem, anything for you boss. She does really love you. I could hear it in everything she said, and the way that she looks at youI don’t know Tina, you must have an iron will to be able to resist that.”

“I guess I just keep waiting for something to happen, something that makes it OK for me to just give in to her. The problem is I don’t know what that is or when it’s going to happen.” sighed Tina.

“You could always make something happen, instead of waiting for it.”

    “Like what?”

Kate thought for a brief moment, wondering whether what she was going to suggest was going to fly with Tina, and there was also the fact that she didn’t want to push Tina too far down a road that there was no coming back from. Then she figured that really there was nothing left to lose.

    1. Oh boy, can hardly believe I’m first. Tina finally let her guard down and just at the right time, when she could feel Bette’s love and see it in her eyes. She finally had to let go of everything and see that she loved Bette as well. That was great. Now maybe they can work on being together without animosity, guilt and all that other stuff that was stopping Tina from being with Bette. She must let it go. Thank you for this post.

    2. You know, if S2 Tina and Bette communicated as well as they do in your story, we could have avoided the abyss that is their relationship in S3. As always, excellent chapter.

    3. Tina is getting very good advice from Kate. Tina has got to relinquish that fear she’s holding on to and allow herself to “feel” again. Feel everything as anew…like Bette is doing.
