the restaurant n times – chapter eight

Realizing Tina thought what had happened to her was her fault she quickly spoke, “It wasn’t your fault and I’m not leaving you, never. Tina, I love you so much. I’m a little disappointed that you’re just telling me this, but I’m glad that you finally were able to. You can trust me, you know that right? But, Tee why did you faint? You seem like you were able to get passed this. I mean it’s been so long.”

Tina sighed. "I don’t know. I guess my anger that I’ve bottled up inside since and the fact that I was anxious and stressing ever since I saw her name on the invite Alice gave us the other day… I just, I just lost it." Tina looked to the floor.

"Tina! Why didn’t’ you mention it to me once you saw it? I wouldn’t have made you gone." Bette was upset.

"I know, it’s just, you were excited to see your friends and ex coworkers at the Times. I just didn’t want to take that away from you. I’m sorry Bette. Please don’t be upset."

"Tee I’m not upset.” She tried to assure her. “Okay, I’m lying. Actually, I am very upset. I just can’t believe she did this to you! She’s your sister for God’s sake! You don’t do these things to a sister! You’re supposed to watch out for your sister! Love your sister!” Bette didn’t realize how upset she was until she heard herself shouting. She tried a breathing technique, calming herself down, counting one to thirty then thirty to one.

Bette took Tina’s hands in her and gazed into her eyes. “Tee, promise me that you’ll tell me anything, even if you think I’ll be upset? I want you to know that you are my top priority above anything else."

    "I promise.”

“Bette? Do you think? I mean, I should probably call her, right? She did save my life."

Tina’s kindness towards others had always been one of the many things that Bette loved about her.

Bette juggled the thought in her head.

"Yea, in fact, I’ll get Helena to set up something at the restaurant. I want to be there with you. It’s about time you get your apology too. ”

    1. Did you really just go where crazy Ilene once did? Ridiculous. There is something seriously wrong with Tina if she considers the person who molested her her “first”. It’s like a rape victim calling her rapist one of her “lovers”.
