The Performance of a Lifetime – Chapter 4

    “Can I help you?”

“Bette Porter and Tina Kennard. We are guests for the wedding.”

There was silence as presumably whoever was on the other side checked the guests’ list.

    “Welcome Miss Porter, Miss Kennard.”

The gate opened in front of the car. Bette took one deep breath and turned to Tina.

    “Ready?”

“Yeah. Let the games begin.” Tina said with a smile.

They drove slowly up the driveway. Tina looked out the window taking in the dispersed trees, the small yellowish vegetation, the wild bushes, leaves waving with the gentle wind. Then she looked forward and saw a white three stories building dominating the small hill.

“Oh. Alice wasn’t kidding about the mansion part.”

“Yeah.” Bette said in a clipped tone.

Tina looked at her companion and saw the rigid set of her jaw. She wished there was something that she could do to relax her. The blonde sighed and watched in silence as they reached the entrance of the house and stopped the car.

Alice and Shane saw the familiar car approaching and walked over to greet their friends.

“Hello, slow pokes. Took you guys long enough to get here.” Alice teased.

“Hi Bette, Tina.” Shane lifted her hand in a little wave.

“Hello, guys.” Tina replied as she and Bette went to get their bags from the trunk of the car.

Just then Jodi and Janet came out of the house to greet them. It was Jodi who talked first.

“Hello Bette.” She then turned to regard Tina. “Hi Tina.”

Tina could feel Bette tense up beside her. She rested her left hand on the small of the brunette’s back and rubbed gently. She smiled.

“Hello Jodi. Hi Janet. The house is beautiful.” Tina said charmingly.

Bette held on to the tangible sensation of Tina’s warm hand on her back and she too smiled.

    “Hi Jodi, Janet.”

Alice noticed Tina’s gesture. A half wondering smile formed on her lips.

“If you like the house you guys are going to love the bed.” Alice said mischievously.

Shane groaned beside her as everyone’s attention focused on them. Alice bit back a chuckle as she looked at everyone’s expression. She almost wished they would look at each other instead of staring at her, now that would be an eye opening experience for everyone. Tina flushed, Bette’s eyes widened, Jodi on the contrary seemed to have bit her tongue the way her face scrunched up while Janet just smiled with a wicked twinkle in her eyes.

“I’m just saying I had never slept on a canopy bed of the nineteenth century.” Alice finished innocently.

    1. This story is adorable. I love how intuitive Tina is regarding Bette’s feelings..and how she reacts to things to make Bette feel more at ease. Hope they do some of that flirting they tried in the car in front of their crowd. PPS.

    2. Love the story and so happy that you have a hyperactive imagination and that you love “our girls.” Hopefully when the girls get on the dance floor those special feelings will surface and give them goosebumps. Then the game is on and they will find that they really do like each other. This is gonna be so much fun. PPS

    3. Oh! PPS! I am so intrigued to find out what types of events are going to comprise a four-day wedding. So many opportunities for flirting! Can they reflect back on what happened after the dance on their introductory date? I am dying to know what happened – how did the date end? I am assuming well because they are now at the wedding. Please more SOON! Like this evening or tomorrow soon!

    4. Leave it to Alice to say something to make everyone uncomfortable!! I’m loving the story. Tina jumped right into character. How far will she go to ‘relax’ Bette?

    5. Alice is a riot, but it seems she has caught on to the effect that Bette and Tina have on one another. I can’t wait to watch Bette and Tina fall for each other and the side bonus of Jodi having to face your idiocy is just icing on the cake. Your story ROCKS!

    6. Let me join the bandwagon and say i am loving this story too!I am really liking the unobtrusive way that Tina is supporting and connecting with Bette. Can’t wait for more. Thanks for sharing.

    7. That alice her mouth over loads her all the time. I believe thay Jodie and janet will put Tina and Bette in the same room just to be shitty. they know that they are not together post soon. thanks

    8. What a story Sabina, you are brilliant and this chapter was simply beautiful you have done a great job writing it, I’m so excited for the whole event, imagine the possibilities and what could happen between between these two, I hope they get to know each other better and recognize the attraction and ignore the wedding and make an intense love instead. Thank you so much & have a great day.
