    A B&T beginning

     

    Jane sat at her desk reviewing the final invoices from the caterers and the party staff suppliers.  She thought that they were being charged for two waitpersons that had not been sent and she noted to bring her suspicion to Bette’s attention.  As Bette made her phone calls, a few more flower deliveries arrived.

     

    Bette always kept her office door open so she could yell to get Jane’s attention and not need to deal with the annoying intercom.  When there were customers in the gallery and Bette was using a potty mouth or ranting (they were usually simultaneous), Jane would protect the delicate ears of the visitors by shutting the door to Bette’s office.  Otherwise, it wasn’t necessary since the sound acoustics were such that Bette’s speaking voice could not be heard.  Her sound of her laughter, though, could seep out of her office, but Jane had noticed that the customers were always intrigued by the delightful sound so Jane did not block it.

     

    Jane could hear that laughter as Bette made her calls.  She now knew her boss’s laughters and she could tell which were which.  She was hearing only business-type laughs.until she transferred a call from Bette’s sister Kit into her office.  Then she heard a few real-life laughs.

     

    Kit’s call was a surprise.  Bette had been disappointed that her sister had not come to the opening, though she had never before come to one.  Bette had thought that Kit would realize it was more important this time since it was for her own gallery.  She had also been disappointed but not surprised that her father had not shown up.  It was a long trip from Philadelphia, he was a busy man, and he knew that she knew that he loved and supported her and would understand that he didn’t need to be there for her to know those things.  Bette did know such things but she still had hoped he would come.

     

    Bette steeled herself before she picked up Kit’s call.  She insisted to herself that she was not going to let Kit again charm her out of her legitimate disappointment so she reminded herself that she had attended every one of Kit’s club appearances that were within 2 hours’ driving time.  "Kit, good to hear from you.  Are you well?"

    1. Oh no, what is Bette F**king about on the phone or whatever? Something must have gone wrong. One of my favorite Bette laughs is in season 6, she was reading the text of Shane sleeping with Jenny while attending a faculty meeting. I love that laugh. I like Jane, keep her around.

    3. Jike, Tina’s tape isn’t hard believe. Because something simuliar happened to me. And I in no way concider myself “effed up.” But when you look at it who’s family doesn’t hold some type of disfunction. Like they say everyone’s normal until you get to know them :) No offense taken just wanted to point out that some strange and weird things can happen in a person’s life that really dosn’t have to have a great affect on their future. They don’t tell everybody on maybe nobody, no need to. Your future is what you make it, not what other people have done to you. Your choice. :)

    10. well, B&T story without Tina is one-sided…so bring me some Tina LOL anyway, great chapter…i remember season 1 and how Bette struggled with relationship with Kit…actually, while they were talking i was waitig for Bette to ask, “Did you drink?” LOL and the f-word coming from Bette’s mouth for some reason always welcome LOL great chapter even without Tina but now that we know she didn’t get caught in traffic, i’m getting more excited about her appearance

    11. LOL @ James being an FTM transexual. I’m trying to picture him as a female and that facial hair makes it so hard, hahaha. Poor Bette. Being Kit’s sister must have been tough. Actually, her whole family life was pretty neglectful, wasn’t it? It’s a wonder she lasted THAT long with Tina the first time around. (Then again, if we believe the interrogation tapes, Tina was even more effed up. But who would believe those?). Your writing is so great that I feel lucky to be first to comment :)
