The crowd has filled up the street in front of The Planet for the Planet Festival.  Also taking up part of the street is a makeshift backstage area and the stage itself.  The mood is festive, the vendors are ready, The Planet is full and the crowd is ready.  Kit takes the stage to introduce the first act.

Kit: Ladies and Gentlemen…show some love yall for Charmaine Brooks!

The crowd applauds as Charmaine and her band take the stage and begin performing.

As the show gets underway, there are still others making their way to The Planet.  Some have bussed in.  Others, like Benjamin Bradshaw have driven in.  Benjamin finds one of the few remaining parking spots left in his rental car.  He’s flown in for one reason…to talk to Kit.  As he looks around, he knows he picked quite a day to chat.  He drove in straight from the airport, while others like Howie Fairbanks bussed in.

Howie looks around and knows this is where he wants to call home.  Everything’s so open to him here.  No judgmental types to be found from what he can tell.  He wanders into the crowd, hoping to find a familiar face and way to never go back home.  Among the others coming off of the bus is a young lady named Claude.  She stops to take in the scenery and puts a cigarette in her mouth.  She pulls out a lighter and flicks it, holding it up to the cigarette before taking a drag.  She’s not sure why she’s here, but she’s here nonetheless.  So in her mind, she may as well enjoy it.

Another of the few precious spots remaining is taken up.  Out of the parked vehicle steps a man who’s very familiar with the surroundings.  His connections helped bring in one of the acts today and now he’s here to take part in the fun.  Billie knows he could never stay away from this place for too long without visiting.  Today, he makes that visit.  He’s looking for Kit, but he’s also looking for any old faces from The Planet.

Benjamin’s search for Kit brings him through the crowd as he makes his way towards The Planet cafe itself.  Once inside, he sees a very busy place.  He also notices in one corner, some children singing along with a white man and his guitar.  Benjamin figures that Kit’s being very innovative with her ideas, bringing a grin to his face.  He turns around to see Kit making her way back to the stage to introduce the next act.  He now walks towards the side of Stage Left.
