    Breakfast time with the President and First Lady

     

    “Well – the two of you are on every freaking front page “

     

    She holds up the NY Times – and there Ella and I. This is walking on very think ice time – I take a tissue and rub Ella’s mouth

     

    “Was that nice Ella ? Did you like that honey ?”

     

    Bette looks at the newspaper with scorn and dislike on her face. I pick up a paper and look at what they are saying. It pretty standard stuff – how we look good and some stuff about how Ella looks like Bette – which I suppose is going to raise questions about her father. I look at Bette who is reading another headline and still looking not happy ( to put it mildly )

     

    “Bette – you can’t do anything about it now – just let it go “

     

    She looks at me and God it was the wrong thing to say.

     

    “I can make sure that wherever you and Ella go is checked out first – how fucking amateur does it make my team look like when they allow you to visit your parents with an empty house next door – I am going to make some people regret they got out of bed this morning “

     

    “That isn’t fair “

     

    “What if he’s had a gun and not a camera ?”

     

    She knows that I have no reply to that – we are her Achilles heel – if a terrorist cannot reach Bette because of her protection squad we are the most obvious next target and that would paralyse the President

     

    “That’s not fair and you know it “

     

    “Oddly I don’t feel the need to be fair when it comes to my wife and daughter “

     

    “And you are not being fair to me either and that pisses me off “

     

    “Well sorry if your feelings were hurt by me wanting to protect the two of you”

     

    “What is not fair is your getting on your high freaking horse and accusing me of somehow being complicit in those photographs. What the hell gives you the right to accuse me going behind your back and being a part of those photographs ? I don’t agree with this blanket ban of yours – I think its more dangerous “

    1. i have a nice compromise for both of them. Bette will not throw 99% of tinas detail to federal prison for the next 1 million years and Tina agrees that her details get doubled. She is to casual about that.Nice chapi ally and i am looking forward to more because this is not over ;)PPS

    3. Happy Valentine’s Day AllyE!!!Thankfully Bette has admitted to acting like an absolute ass and apologized to Tina. Tina is right they must compromise, and Bette needs to concede that Tina is right about the news release snippets regarding them. If given enough the press will tire of covering them all the time and they will be old news for a while, at least until Tina is preggers again. AllyE, after all this time this story is continually one of my top favs and it never gets stale, you keep us going with fresh storylines. The story will never get old. Thanks to your very wonderful writing ability. Keep up the good work. Have a great weekend. Post when you can.

    5. Happy V-Day. Not much of a holiday to me. So commercial. Great story that always has unique subtexts that are always well written and adult but the characters seem in a rut not the edgy excitement and quirky unexpected behaviors that were present in the past. Maybe they are “too married”? However, please post as soon as you can. :-)

    6. I think Tina handled that very well. I am glad Bette is willing to talk about it now instead of dictating. Wonder what Bette will think about Tina’s interest in maybe becoming govenor? Happy Valentines Day! PPS

    10. i can understand bette being upset and their details for not knowing someone one was next door, but tina is right about the media and bette does need to meet tina half way!:)PPS
