Chapter 74
Tina finished packing her case and sat down on the bed. At last she was being released from the hospital – it was Tuesday lunchtime and she had finally been given the all-clear from the hospital. She had been told that she needed to rest for another week at home but she should not do anything that caused her to struggle breathing. She had walked to the pharmacist and collected two inhalers and some painkillers. The walk had taken her fifteen minutes when before the fire it would only have taken her ten. She could feel her chest tightening and she hadn’t been sleeping very well – she blamed that on the bed not being as comfortable as the bed she shared at home. Bette had also insisted on staying with her every night – Bette had slept fitfully on the chair beside Tina’s bed – that hadn’t helped Tina – she could see how worn out her lover was. But trying to get Bette to go home was impossible – the brunette only wanted to be by her side. And Tina didn’t have the energy to fight with her partner. So tonight they would both sleep well. The door opened and Bette came in
“Hello there “
Tina smiled and got off the bed – she went to Bette and they embraced. Hugging was slowly starting to feel easier for Tina – she hadn’t told Bette how much discomfort she was in – the pain was worth being held by the only woman she ever loved. Bette eased away and kissed Tina on the lips
“How do you feel ?”
“I feel stronger – how’s the gallery doing ?”
“Good – really good – lots of interest in the other pieces – Peggy came by and snapped up that piece that she was looking at on Friday “
“How much ?” Tina asked
“$300,000”
“Wow – is that the Strauss sculpture ?”
“Yes “
“How much commission ?”
“I get $20,000 “
“Good “
“I am on the way to making more on this show than on the last one – and that’s going to be great – I can afford half of a new nice house with you “

I love this version of Bette and Tina finding out about one another’s needs and trying to live with the differences – why oh why can’t aren’t you the one who wrote the final season. You are so right about what was worth watching this last episode Tina’s ass, Angie’s face and Bette’s look of love when she kissed Tina at the airport. And that’s about all. Thanks for your alternative it makes this season more bearable.

Loved the update AllyE. Tina and Bette really need to mature a bit more before they think of marriage and talk a LOT about things. They are of two different minds because of circumstances beyond their control. They each need reassurance that their love will never waiver for any reason and a marriage certificate is not really necessary to ensure that. People fall out of love all the time marriage or not. Hopefully Tina will speak with her mother the next day when she calls and ask her not to come to LA, their presence is not needed. And that her health will improve more without the aggravation of her mother’s presence. Because they will not be able to be in a room together without taking offense to something the other will say. This Ma Kennard doesn’t leave people alone?? God help Tina. What a wonderful chapter Ally, I loved the fact that they have the place for themselves, they can rest and spoil each other, and do what they want. I am so looking forward for the next chapter. Have a great night. Love
I think it’s sad that they wouldn’t let Tina’s mother talk to her, despite everything. Even tired, she could have said hello and let her mother hear her voice. If Ma isn’t too cool with Bette, it really is Tina’s problem not being able to accept her mother for who she is that is the real stumbling block. It’s not like she abused Tina, it’s just that her parents’ lifestyle makes Tina uncomfortable. And T & B get all upset that Ma doesn’t accept their relationship! But Ma never kicked them off the farm, Tina left in a huff. Tina really does need to grow up. She reconciled with Bette in the aftermath of the fire, she could have done the same with her mother. And I’m not sure if Bette was protecting Tina so much as enabling her.
Hehehehe, Ally you funny girl – where were you with your thought – I think in LWord-land by Tinas cute ass as you mentioned LOL. Where is my L Wing dose.

OK these two are so not ready for marriage yet, but how about a long engagement this way Tina get stime and Bette gets the reassurance she feels she needs? PPS:)
i think bette has the right idea of keeping everything in tina’s life pretty much calm, but tina should at least talk to her mom when she feels better.tina needs to at least be respectful of her mom’s choices, just her mom needs to to her choices. these two are so not ready for marriage yet! :)PPS
