The Gathering 01.64 – The Gathering ReDux – Pt. 12

“You are late.”  She rolled her eyes and sat across from him, she tussled her now shorter hair.  She realized that they had the same color of hair, she thought that was cute.  He casually threw her something, she caught it.  It was a link bracelet, with rainbow colored links across the middle.  It was very light, Sam was guessing it was made of titanium, just like she and C.J.’s commitment rings were made of.  The very ring that was sitting in a box on her dresser.

“From Gus.”  He stated, taking a sip of the very good coffee.

“Tell Gus thank you.”  Brian nodded and shrugged as if it wasn’t anything of importance, but it truly was.  She knew it wasn’t from Gus, but it was the only way he could made this sort of gesture, she looked at the shell bracelet he wore and wondered who had given it to him.

“They don’t make stuff like this in the ‘Burg.”  He held up the jade green coffee cup.  She chuckled, nodding.

“How is he after the bone marrow transplant?  All the test coming back good?”  She asked, needing to know after all that had happened in Pittsburgh while she’d been there.

“Great, doesn’t really understand that he could have died.  Doctors are saying he’s a little miracle, Lindsey thinks he’s going to have a god complex.”  He said, his face unemotional.

“You didn’t tell anyone who donated did you?”  Brian shook his head no, telling anyone about the events that had transpired between him and Sam were not high on his list of priorities.

“You asked me not too.  I respect that.”  She looked at him, trying desperately not to smile.  She was failing.

“Thanks, I’m glad that I could help.”  She shrugged, slouching back in her chair, feeling the day’s events drifting away from her.

Brian nodded, trying to not look at her.  Then he did and she grinned and he did too in a scoffing way.

“***** this is weird.  I hate my family, did you know that?”  He asked, of course she didn’t know that.

“I don’t know mine.  Yet.”  She stated, and slipped him an picture that she’d taken of him and Gus at the hospital.  They were sleeping on the small bed, Brian cradling his son after finding out that he’d live.
